1. ALL WORK MATERIALS SHALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON UTILITY DEPARTMENT AND THE LATEST
EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS. A SET OF
APPROVED PLANS SHALL BE KEPT ON SITE AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
2. ALL WORK THAT MAY IMPACT UTILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
SAWCUTTING, DEMOLITION, POTHOLING, AND TRENCHING, SHALL BE SUBJECT TO
THE BOEING SHUTDOWN COMMITTEE PROCESS PRIOR TO ANY SITEWORK. CONTACT
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS. THE HOURS OF WORK IN
THE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY OR AIRPORT TAXIWAYS SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH
RENTON AIRPORT MANAGER AND BE LIMITED TO 8:30 AM TO 3:30 PM ON
WEEKDAYS, UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE AIRPORT MANAGER
(425) 430-7471 AND DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AT (425) 430-7394. ALL
STREETS CLOSURES, PARTIAL OR FULL, SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE BOEING
SHUTDOWN COMMITTEE, RENTON AIRPORT MANAGER, AND DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, BOEING
AND RENTON FIRE DEPARTMENTS, AND 911 SHALL BE NOTIFIED 24 HOURS IN
ADVANCE.
3. ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXIMATE AND IT SHALL BE
THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION
SO AS TO AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL
FIELD UTILITY LOCATION SERVICES AND VERIFY ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS WITH THE
PROPER BOEING FACILITIES PERSONNEL PRIOR TO THE START OF EXCAVATION
WORK. FOR WORK LOCATED ON THE CITY OF RENTON PROPERTY, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT UTILITY LOCATE AT 1-800-424-5555.
4. A PRECONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION. A
MINIMUM OF 3 (THREE) WORKING DAYS NOTICE IS REQUIRED FOR SCHEDULING.
PRIOR TO SCHEDULING THE PRECON, A PERMIT INFORMATION SHEET MUST BE
SUPPLIED TO THE UTILITY ENGINEER'S OFFICE. 24 HOUR NOTICE WILL BE
REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH BOEING TO VERIFY THAT ALL
APPLICABLE LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL PERMITS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING ANY AND ALL
PERMITS UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BOEING.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND HAVE APPROVED ALL REQUIRED TRAFFIC
CONTROL PLANS PRIORJO TO IMPLEMENTING ANY TRAFFIC CONTROL. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH BOEING REPRESENTATIVE FOR ALL TRAFFIC
CONTROL REQUIREMENTS WITHIN BOEING PROPERTY, TRAFFIC CONTROL REQUIRED
ON AIRPORT PROPERTY OR WITHIN CITY RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE SUBMITTED AND
APPROVED BY THE AIRPORT AND CITY OF RENTON PRIOR TO IMPLEMENTATION.
7. CONTRACTOR IS TO HAVE UTILITY LOCATOR SERVICE LOCATE UTILITIES AND SHOW
THEM ON CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY RENTON
FACILITIES SHUTDOWN COMMITTEE PRIOR TO SAWCUTTING AND EXCAVATION.
8. ALL UNDERGROUND PIPING SHALL BE IDENTIFIED BY THE USE OF SURFACE
LOCATED MARKERS, PER TYPICAL DETAIL ON SHEET C505. MARKERS SHALL BE
LOCATED AT MAXIMUM INTERVALS OF 150 FT, AT ALL CHANGES OF DIRECTION,
WITHIN 5 FT OF A WALL, AT ALL MANHOLES AND VALVE BOXES, AND ADJACENT TO
ROADS. MARKERS SHOULD INDICATE SERVICE, PIPE SIZE, DIRECTION OF FLOW,
PIPE MATERIAL AND PIPE DEPTH. MARKER INSTALLATION LOCATIONS SHALL BE
INDICATED ON THE CONTRACTOR PROVIDED AS -BUILT INFORMATION IN THE FORM
OF RED -MARKED DRAWINGS.
9. EXISTING MONITORING WELLS SHALL BE PROTECTED UNLESS NOTED ON THE
DRAWINGS. DO NOT DISTURB MONITORING WELLS WITHOUT WRITTEN DIRECTION
FROM BOEING ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY (EHS). DISTURBED WELLS
SHALL BE REPLACED AT THE DIRECTION OF BOEING PROJECT REPRESENTATIVE.
ALL WELLS THAT WILL BE DISTURBED SHALL BE ABANDONED BY BOEING (EHS).
TWO WEEKS NOTICE SHALL BE GIVEN TO BOEING (EHS) PRIOR TO DISTURBING THE
WELL.
EROSION CONTROL NOTES:
1. EROSION CONTROL MEASURES SHOWN ON THE PLANS ARE CONSIDERED AN ABSOLUTE
MINIMUM, AND CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL EROSION
CONTROL MEASURES AS NEEDED. IN ADDITION TO MEASURES SHOWN, CONTRACTOR
SHALL COVER DIRT PILES AND MAY REQUIRE BAKER TANK(S) FOR GROUND WATER.
2. ON-SITE EROSION MEASURES AND STORM WATER POLLUTION PREVENTION SHALL BE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR. ANY PROBLEMS OCCURRING BEFORE FINAL
ACCEPTANCE OF THE STORM SEWER BY THE OWNER SHALL BE CORRECTED BY THE
CONTRACTOR.
3. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL DEVICES SHOWN ON THESE DRAWINGS
SHALL BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO OR AS THE FIRST STAGE OF SITE PREPARATION.
4. SHOULD THE TEMPORARY EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL MEASURES AS SHOWN
IN THE DRAWINGS OR SPECIFIED IN THE NOTES NOT PROVE ADEQUATE TO CONTROL
EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL SILT FENCE OR
ADDITIONAL FACILITIES AS NECESSARY TO PROTECT ADJACENT PROPERTIES, SENSITIVE
AREAS, NATURAL WATER COURSES AND/OR STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEMS.
5. ALL NECESSARY FACILITIES SHALL BE MAINTAINED ON-SITE TO PREVENT DEBRIS, DUST
AND MUD FROM ACCUMULATING ON THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY AND BOEING PROPERTY.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE SITE'S
CONSTRUCTION STORMWATER GENERAL PERMIT OR FOR CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS LESS
THAN AN ACRE THE SITE'S INDUSTRIAL STORMWATER GENERAL PERMIT.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH BOEING EHS ON WHO WILL OBTAIN ANY
REQUIRED STORMWATER SAMPLES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE AN EROSION CONTROL CHECKLIST, CAREFULLY
REVIEW IT, AND MAINTAIN ALL STORMWATER POLLUTION PREVENTION MEASURES DAILY.
EROSION CONTROL NOTES (CONTINUED):
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A CERTIFIED EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL LEAD
(CESCL) TO MANAGE IMPLEMENTATION OF STORMWATER CONSTRUCTION PERMIT (IF
APPLICABLE), INCLUDING INSPECTIONS, SAMPLING (COORDINATED WITH BOEING) AND BMP
MANAGEMENT.
10. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO PREPARE FOREIGN OBJECT DEBRIS (FOD) PLAN.
11. CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE WITH BOEING FOR DISPOSITION OF EXCAVATED DIRT.
STOCKPILE NOTES,--
1.
STOCKPILES SHALL BE STABILIZED (WITH PLASTIC COVERING OR OTHER
APPROVED DEVICE) DAILY BETWEEN NOVEMBER 1 AND MARCH 31.
C13 PROTECTION NOTESO-
1.
CATCH BASIN INSERTS SHALL BE PROVIDED IN THE CATCH BASINS TRIBUTARY TO AREA
WHERE CONTRACTORS CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES OCCUR.
2. CATCH BASIN INSERTS SHALL BE REMOVED FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION
AND STABILIZATION OF ALL CLEARED AREAS.
POLLUTION PREVENTION NOTES:
1. PREVENT OIL AND FUELS FROM ENTERING THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM WITH PROPER CONTAINMENT
DEVICES.
2. SWEEP DIRT FROM PAVING DAILY OR AS NEEDED. THE INTENT IS TO PREVENT DIRT AND DEBRIS FROM
VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT FROM BEING DEPOSITED ON BOEING OWNED STREET AND CIN STREET PAVEMENT.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREVENT ALL MATERIAL USED OR GENERATED ON-SITE FROM ENTERING THE STORM
DRAINAGE SYSTEM. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE CONTAINMENT/SEPARATION
AT ALL TIMES. ALL STORMWATER POLLUTION PREVENTION MEASURES SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING TO ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE STORMWATER PERMITS.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONDUCT DAILY STORMWATER/ENVIRONMENTAL INSPECTION OF THE CONSTRUCTION
SITE. SCOPE OF THE INSPECTION WILL BE COORDINATED WITH SITE ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING.
CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE:
1. UPON COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT, STABILIZE ANY REMAINING DISTURBED AREAS AND REMOVE BMPS (BEST
MANAGEMENT PRACTICES) IF APPROPRIATE.
2. REMOVE TRAFFIC CONTROL AND REMAINING EROSION CONTROL AND POLLUTION PREVENTION MEASURES UPON
APPROVAL BY BOEING.
CONSTRUCTION DEWATERING,
IF NEEDED THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PREPARE AND SUBMIT A DEWATERING PLAN TO THE CITY OF RENTON
PRIOR TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. WORK SHALL NOT COMMENCE UNTIL THE PLAN IS
APPROVED BY THE CITY.
SHOULD DEWATERING OF EXCAVATION BECOME NECESSARY, CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE DEWATERING PLAN,
LABOR AND EQUIPMENT. COORDINATE DEWATERING WITH OWNER AND THEIR GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER.
BOEING SHALL TEST GROUNDWATER FOR CONTAMINANTS AND PROVIDE DIRECTION FOR DEWATERING.
UNCONTAMINATED GROUNDWATER/STORMWATER WATER LESS THAN 25,000 GALLONS PER DAY MAY BE
DISCHARGED TO THE SANITARY SEWER UNDER BOEING WASTE DISCHARGE PERMIT 7630 IF APPROVED BY
BOEING ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING. INITIAL AND DAILY SAMPLING WILL BE REQUIRED. DISCHARGES
DIRECTLY INTO THE MUNICIPAL SEWER SYSTEM REQUIRE ADDITIONAL PERMITTING THROUGH THE CITY OF
RENTON.
DEWATERING VOLUMES GREATER THAN 25,000 GALLONS PER DAY WILL BE DISCHARGED AS FOLLOWS:
a) UNCONTAMINATED WATER WILL BE TREATED THROUGH A CHITOSAN SYSTEM AND DISCHARGED TO THE
STORM SEWER. BOEING WILL WORK WITH THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN THE APPROPRIATE ECOLOGY
APPROVAL TO DISCHARGE INTO THE STORM SEWER SYSTEM.
b) CONTAMINATED WATER WILL BE TREATED DEPENDING ON CONTAMINANTS AND DISCHARGED TO THE
SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM. A WASTE DISCHARGE AUTHORIZATION WILL BE OBTAINED BY BOEING
ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING FOR THIS TYPE OF DISCHARGE. 4-6 WEEKS ARE NECESSARY TO
OBTAIN THIS PERMIT.
THESE SYSTEMS WILL BE THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE.

11. THE 4 INCH PUMPER NOZZLE SHALL BE FITTED WITH A STORZ ADAPTER, 4 INCH SEATTLE THREAD
X 5 INCH STORZ. STORZ ADAPTER SHALL BE FORGED AND/OR EXTRUDED 6061-T6 ALUMINUM
ALLOY, HARDCOAT ANODIZED. THREADED END PORTION SHALL HAVE NO LUGS AND TWO SET SCREWS
180 DEGREES APART. STORZ FACE TO BE METAL, NO GASKET TO WEATHER. STORZ CAP TO HAVE
SYNTHETIC MOLDED RUBBER GASKET, AND SHALL BE ATTACHED TO HYDRANT ADAPTER WITH 1/8

TO NOTIFY THE PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL
CONSTRUCTION.
4. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEANS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF
CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
5. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN STREET USE AND ANY OTHER
RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.
6. PLANS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHER PLANS.
14. FIRE HYDRANTS SHALL BE INSTALLED PER CITY OF RENTON STANDARD DETAIL FOR FIRE HYDRANTS`
LATEST REVISION.
15. ALL WATERMAINS 10 INCHES AND SMALLER TO MAINTAIN A MINIMUM COVER OF 36 INCHES BELOW
FINISH GRADE. ALL WATERMAIN 12 INCHES AND LARGER SHALL BE AT A MINIMUM OF 48 INCI- ES
BELOW FINISH GRADE. WHERE UTILITY CONFLICTS OCCUR, WATERMAINS ARE TO BE LOWERED TO
CLEAR.
16. ALL WATERMAINS 6 INCHES AND LARGER IN DIAMETER SHALL BE CLEANED WITH PIPE CLEANING
"PIGS" PRIOR TO DISINFECTION. THE "POLY PIGS" SHALL BE GIRARD INDUSTRIES AQUA SWAB -AS 0
APPROVED EQUAL, 2 LB/CU. FT. DENSITY FOAM WITH 90A DUROMETER URETHANE RUBBER COATING
ON THE REAR OF "PIG" ONLY.

RENTON AND THE WASHINGTON STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. ALL PRESSURE TESTING SHALL BE:
DONE IN THE PRESENCE OF A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. THE QUANTITY OF WATER
LOST FROM THE MAIN SHALL NOT EXCEED THE NUMBER OF GALLONS PER HOUR AS LISTED IN CITY
OF RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS 7-11.3(11). THE LOSS IN PRESSURE SHALL NOT
EXCEED 5 PSI DURING THE 2 HOUR TEST PERIOD.
19. ALL WATERMAINS AND SERVICES SHALL BE DISINFECTED BY THE INJECTION OF A 50 PPM (MINIMUM
CONCENTRATION) CHLORINE/WATER SOLUTION. DRY CALCIUM HYPOCHLORITE SHALL NOT BE PL, CED
IN THE PIPE AS LAID. CHLORINE SHALL BE METERED/INJECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7-

20. A PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION. A MINIMUM OF
FIVE (5) WORKING DAYS NOTICE IS REQUIRED FOR SCHEDULING.
21. TWENTY-FOUR(24) HOURS NOTICE WILL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION.

SUPPLIED BY THE CONTRACTOR AND BE ON-SITE PRIOR TO CITY NOTIFICATIONS.
25. INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. IT SHALL BE�

COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE L'`NGT$
