RESOI,UTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON

WHIItEAS, the City of Renton is a Municipal Corporation of the Second Class
j under the Laws of the State of Washingtan, and said City has heretofore engag�d in
� extensive studies and investigation regardiag the advisability of annexing certain
territories to the City of Renton lqing adjacent and contiguous to its City Lim.its
and whereas it has been and is hereby f ound and determined.that it is to the best
interest and serning the general welfare of the Cifiq of Retiton to annex the terri-
tories hereinbelow described which is contiguous to the City mf Rentonjand,
WAEREAS, it has been and is nuw determine8 and found that said territory
is and constitntes an i.ntegral part of the Renton Shopping area and that many of
the residents residing therein are employed and caork withia the City of Renton
and that a substanti.al number of the resident of said territory are members o£ and
aff iliated with various civic, church and social organizations of the City of
Renton and all or a substantial portion of said territory is likewise included with-
in the bvundaries of the Renton Sehool District, also knc�m as King County School
District 403, and the City oE Renton being capable and billing to provide govern-
mental services to said territorq; and
WAERF�IS, the Citq of Renton has heretofore dnly f iled its Resolu�ion
No. 1093, together w£fih supporting documents, with the Board of Contia�� Commissioners
of King County under date of June 12, 1961 at �he hcur of approximately 8s02 A.M.
and whereas it has been reporte@ that there may be some nncertainty or doubt relative
to the correct eastern boundary of the Town of lhkwila adjoi�ing the Citq of Renton�

and in order to e�iminate any such doubt or uncerfiaintq� the City of Renton is re-f iling
this Resolution with the Board of King Co�nty Commissioners embracir�g other or d�f£er.-
ent boundaries in said doubt£ul areal as set f orth in Section IO of Chapter 282, 1961
Session Laws of the State o£ Washi.ngton; NOW THER�ORE �
BE IT RESOLVED BY T� MAYOR AND CITY COtJNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIIdT�ON as

SECTION I: It is hereby found and defiermined that a11 0€ the above recitals
and f indings are trne and correc� in all respects and that the best interest and
general welfare of the City of Renton would be served by the annexation of the herein-
below described territory.

SHCTION II: The boundaries of the area to be a�.nexed ase described on
the attached exhibit, labelled "Exhibit ,�j", which is by this reference thereto made
a part of this Resolution as i� fn12y set forth herein. The number o£ voters residing
in th.e said territory to be annexed is approxi.mately 9,750 as nearly as may be deter-
m�ned. �
SECTION III: The City of Rento� therefore praqs that an eleetion be called
bq the Board of Conntq Commissioners, or as provided by law, to be held autong the
qc�ali.f ied voters�withi.n the terr3.tory deseribed upon the qnestion of snch annexa-
tion, the cost of such election to be borne bq the City of 8enton. The Citp of
Benton further prays tl�t there also be submitted to the electorate of the territory
sought to be anaexed a propositi.on fihat all property within the property annexed
shall npon annexatio� be assessed and taxed at the same rate and on the same basi.s
as the property located withitt the City of Renton is assessed and t�xed to pay for
any then outstandi.ng i.ndebtedness of the City oE Renton to which said area becot�es annex-
ed, cantracted prior to, or existing a� tti� date of annexation.
