That the Washington State Highway Department and other interested agencies and
off icials of fihe State, including appropriate committees of the State Legislature,
are respectfully petitioned and requested to join in the making of analyses and
studies of the arteriai highway system in and adjacent to the CITY OF RENTON, in
cooperation with the City Council and off icials of Renton, with a view to improving
the arterial highway system serving the CITY and determining need and method of`
possible revision, relocation and realignment of such highways, inasmuch as anq
revisions made by the CITY OF RENTON in its own arterial street system must necess-
arily affect the connecting State highwaq system.
Particular highwaqs and aress to be the subject of auch cooperative analysas

the CITY OF RENTON, copy of which is attached hereto and by reerence incorporated
herein; the sgecific suggestions being:
1. An artesial link from the Sunset Highwy on a location under-
crossing the freeway at the North Renton Interchange, and
termination at a relocated Benson Highwy.{Secoadary .State
Highway 5-C). _ .
This location wouZd be a major service to the industriaZ complex, eould
by-.pass the Central Business District in close proximity, and
perf orm a dual f unction complementing both industrial and commercial
Renton. .e location could use the multi-lane Talbot Road under-
crossing of the freeway now planned by the Highway Depsrtment.
2. Relocate Benson Highwaq (SSH 5-C) to take full advantage of
the noted., multi-lane bridge, and.avoid problem horizontal and
vertieal lignment.
3. An arterial route from Primary State Highway 2-RE at Renton West
City Limits along Walla Walla and Fif th Avenue, and connecting to
Sunset Boulevard East vicinity PSHS-MP (Maple Valley Brach.).
4. Alignment and capacity iunprovement of existing Second Avenue. i
