WfiEREAS it is a matter of record t�at the location and construction of the
Valley Freeway ��C.S, i7z5 Psx 5, SR 1.67" has been under consideration and study f or
appro�i,mately ten (10} years and
WHEREAS the State I,egislature on various pccasions has a 1lacated monies for
acqui.sition of rights of way and construction and
WHER�?S the existin� �,ast Va�ley Highway is completelJ inadequate to accammadate
vehicular traffic and is overloaded beyond the y�oint of safety and
WHF�R,EAS the industrial development and �rowth of the Green River Vally betwesn
Renton an d Auburn is one of the most rapid in our state and such development should be
aided by proper highway� T�TOW TH�REFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE i��iA.YOP A�TD T?i� CI TY COLNCI L OF TI� CI TY OF R:�`?TOT1 AS
FOLLOjJS:
. SECTION I: The above facts and recitals are hereby found to be true and
correct. The City of Renton hereby ur;es the State Hight,ray Commission to forthwith
bPgin construction of rights of way for the Valley Freeway from South 228th to tihe
Auburn Echo Lake cut-off xoad and to expedi�e fur�her development and construction
of said Highway from Renton extencLng southerly.
The said Highway Corrrmission is further urged to make every effort to locate
and seek approval of a new East U1est Highway from Prima ry State Highway No. 1 to
Auburn-Echo Lake road and that �'��q��funds be allocated �or the acquisition of
necessary rights of way therefor,
