AS FOLL04TS:
SECTION I: There are hereby created and established 3 new sub�sections entitled
1-1309, I-2310 and 1-1311 0€ Title I (Administrative) of Otdinance 1Vo. 1628 entitled
"Code of General Ordinances of the City of t�ent�n", reading as follows:
1-1309 APPOINZIYiENT OF TRAFFIC EIdGINEE� - There is
hereby created the office of City TraffiG�`
Engineer� who shall be appointed by the i4ayor, subject to
confirmation by the City Council, and such appointee shall
hold off ice at the pleasure of the appflinting authority.
1-131� QUALIFICATIONS - To be eligible for the of-
, fiae of Traffic Engineer� the appointee must ,
, have genera2 and extensive knowledge of traffic engineering
and limitati�ns of electric and other traffic control devices;
furthermore, such appointee must have full knowiedge of high-
�3ay design and geometrics as they relate to traffic engineer-
ing, to be able to conduct engiaeering surveys. prepare com-
prehensive reports and such appointee shall. be a graduate
from an accredited college or universit,y with special train-
ing in traff ic engineering or shall have an equivalent combi-
nation of such college or university education� together with
_. prectical experience and training in the field"�af not less than 2 years.
1-1311 GENE�IL DUTIES - 'The duties of the City Traf-
fic Engineer shall include the direction and
co�rdination of the activities of the Traffic Engineering
Departanent of the City� to formulate programs and policies
for said department, to initiate traffic engineering studies,
including recommendations on accident preventions and to pre-
pare and direct plans, designs and to €ormulate standards f�r
� improving pu blic highways including, but �►pt Iimiting to, the con-
struction and control of trafEic signs, roadway markings, highway
and street illuminati�ns* overhead and underground wiring, traffic
signals, and related communication systems utilizing any portion of
any public right-of-way� together with such additiona2 duties,
general and/or specific as may be prescribed by the Mayor and the
City Council from time to time.
SECTIOIV 2: Any and all other nrdinances or parts of ordiaances in conflict here-
with are hereby repealed.
SECTION�3: This Ordinance shall be in fu12 f�rce and effect from and after its
passage, approval and legal publication. , .
