RESOLUTION NO. /3/I
WHEREAS there has been submitted to the City of Renton a "Memorandum of Understand-
ing' between the Washington State Highway Commission and Municipalities Not Financially
Participating in the Puget Sound Regional Transportation Continuing Planned Program';
and
WHEREAS Section 134, Chapter 1, Title 23, United States Code, as enacted by
Section 9CA) of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1962 provides for the encouragement
and promotion of the development of transportation systems, embracing various modes
of transport, in a manner that will serve the States and local communities efficiently
and effectively; and
WHEREAS such Act requires some method of cooperation or understanding between
the State and the governing bodies of the local communities within the "urbanized
area': for carrying out the transportation planning process; and
WHEREAS the adoption of such"Memorandum of Understanding" is advisable and
in the public interest, NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS
FOLLWS:
SECTION I: The above findings and recitals are hereby found to be true and
correct in every respect. The City of Renton hereby adopts that certain "Memorandum
of Understanding between the Washington State Highway Commission and Municipalities
Not Financially Participating in the Puget Sound Regional Transportation Continuing
Planning Program", a cop, of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof as if
fully set forth herein.
SECTION II: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to
execute said "Memorandum of Understanding" as attached hereto and forward certified
copies thereof unto the State of Washington Highway Commission and other interested
parties.
