ORDINANCE N0. 2g11
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTION 1-801 OF TITLE I CADMINISTRATIVE)
OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED 91CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO
LEGAL HOLIDAYS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Existing Section 1-801 of Title I (Administrative)
of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton" be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 1-801 as amended: ESTABLISHING LEGAL HOLIDAYS :
The following are hereby declared and established as legal holidays
in the City of Renton and recognized as such legal holidays for the
employees of the City , without loss of pay :
l. Sunday
� 2 . The first day of January, commonly called New Year' s Day
3 . The twelfth day of February , being the anniversay of the
birth of Abraham Lincoln
4. The third Monda of Februar bein celebrated as the

anniversay of the birth of George Washington
5 . The 30th day of May, commonly known as Memorial Day
6 . The fourth day of July , being the anniversary of the
Declaration of Independence
7 . The first Monday in September , to be known as Labor Day
, 8 . The second Monday of October, to be known as Columbus Day
9 . The eleventh day of November , to be known as Veterans ' Day
10 . The fourth Thursday in November, to be known as Thanksgiving
Day
11. The twenty-fifth of December, commonly called Christmas Day
12 . The day on which any general election is held throughout
the State
togetYi.er with any day designated by public proclamation of the chief
executive of the State as a legal holiday.

If any of the above specified State legal holidays are also
federal legal holidays as established by an Act of Congress , but
observed on different dates , only the State legal holiday shall be
recognized as a paid legal holiday for employees of the City of Renton.
Whenever any legal holiday , other than Sunday, falls upon a
Sunday, the following Monday shall be a legal holiday; likewise
when any such legal holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding
Friday shall be deemed a legal holiday.
If any employee is required to work on a holiday as hereinabove
specified, he shall be allowed an equivalent time off in direct
proportion to the total amount of compensable hours worked; or in
the alternative , with the prior approval of such employee ' s Departmen.t
Head or Supervisor, shall receive overtime pay , at the applicable
overtime rate ,for such holiday hours worked;PROVIDED, HOWEVER, that
one-half Cl/2) of the City employees shall have , as a holiday , the day
after Thanksgiving and the other half of such City employees shall have ,
as a holiday , either the day before or the day following Christmas Day ;
provided, however, that the foregoing provisions may be superseded by
any �.alidly existing collective bargaining agreement between the City
and the Union or other agency representing such employees .
SECTION II : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION III : This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage ,
approval and five days after its publication, unless otherwise provided
for hereinabove.
