(��ti��.� ��-aa5� �'.�. • � "� r� • w �� Q.,� �#a��0 RE TON ASHINGTON CITY OF N , W > � ORDINANCE N0. 2840 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, ADOPTING AND ESTABLISHING BY REFERENCE A "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" DESCRIBING REGULATIONS GOVERNING CONDITIONS HAZARDOUS TO LIFE AND PROPERTY FROM FIRE ANDjOR EXPLOSION ; PROVIDING ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND AMENDMENTS TO SAID CODE ; AND REPEALING ANY AND ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH.� ; WHEREAS not less than three (3) rinted co ies in book form of P P the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" , as issued and recommended by the "International Conference of Building Officials" , and "Western Fire Chiefs Association" , have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Renton for use and examination by the public ,and it is deemed advisable and in the public interest to adopt � said Code by reference as provided by law , but subject to certain deletions , additions and amendments thereto , together with any amendments , additions or modifications when printed and filed with the City Clerk from time to time , NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I : There is hereby adopted that certain "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" , issued and recommended by the "International Conference of Building Officials" , and "Western Fire Chief Associationrr � of which not less than three (3) printed copies in book form have heretofore been filed in the office of the City Clerk and made available for examination by the public , which said Code may hereafter be designed as "CITY OF RENTON UNIFORM FIRE CODE" , provided, however , that the following amendments , deletions , and changes are hereby made and established to said Code , as follows , to-wit : � A. Article 12 , entitled "Fire�aorks°1 of said "Uniform Fire Code , 1973 Edition" is hereby deleted in its entirety. � B. Section 11. 105 entitled "Bond Required" , of Artile 11 , entitled "Explosives and Blasting Agents" , of said -1- .. . .'. .ti .d , t "Uniform Fire Code , 1973 Edition" is hereby deleted. The aforesaid adogtion of said "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" shall likewise include Appendix A through and including Appendix E. Any and all amendments , additions or modifications to said "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" , or any appendix thereto , when printed and filed with the City Clerk of the City of Renton by authorization of the City Council from�_:time to time shall be considered and aecepted and constitute a part of said Code , as amended, without the necessity of further adoption of such amendments , modifications or additions ' by the legislative authority of the City of Renton or by Ordinance. SECTION II: Existing Section 7-904 of Chapter 9 of Title VII (Fire Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General ,r Ordinances of the City of Renton is hereby amended to read as fol�ows : Section 7-904 as amended : APPLICATION; APPEAL: Whenever the Chief of the Fire Department shall disapprove an application or refuse to grant the permit applied for , or when it is claimed that the provisions of the Code do not apply or that the true intent and meaning of the Code' have been misconstrued or wrongly interpreted, such applicant may appeal from such decision to the Appeals Commission� of the City of Renton within ten (10) days from the date of such � decision and as provided by the ordinances of the City of Renton. Any such appeal shall be in writing and after the receipt of any such appeal , the Appeals Commission shall set a date of hearing which shall be within thirty (30 ) days after the receipt of Notice of Appeal. � SECTION III : Existing Section 7-905 of Chapter 9 , Title VII CFire Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows : -2- , , � • • i , . ^ i' ` . . , + . . Section 7-905 as amended: ADDITIONS ; AMENDMENTS : A. The limits referred to in Section 15 . 201 , of the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" ir� which storage of flammable liquids in outside above-ground tanks is prohibited are hereby established as follows : Prohibited in Fire Zone .I ,and Residential Districts�, a�n:d as specified in Chapter 3 of Title VII (Fire Regulations) of Ordinance No . 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton'r . B. The limits referred to in Section 15 . 601 of the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" in which new bulk plants for flammable liquids are prohibited are hereby established as follows : Prohibited in Fire Zone l, and Residential Distric`ts , and as further provided for in Chapter 3 , of Title VII (Fire Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" . C. The limits referred to in Section 20 . 105 of the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITIONY' in which bulk storage of liquefied . petroleum gas is restricted are hereby established as follows : Prohibited in Fire Zone l , and Residential Districts , and as further provided for in Chapter 3 of Title VII (Fire Regulations ) of Ordinance No. 1628 entit�cl. "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" . D. The limits referred to in Section 11. 106 of the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" in which storage of explosives and blasting agents is prohibited are hereby established as follows : Prohibited within the City , except for temporary storage as specified in Section 7-603 of Chapter 6 , Title VII CFire Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" , particular reference being hereby made thereto for further particulars . -3- i . .. �p" y ' � , � • . . . SECTION IV : Existing Sections 7-901 , 7-904 , 7-905 , : `� . 7-90� and 7-908 of Title VII (Fire Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton" are hereby repealed in their entirety. SECTION VI : Any and all ordinances or parts of ord�ances in conflict herewith or inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance and the "UNIFORM FIRE CODE , 1973 EDITION" are hereby repealed and superseded. SECTION VII : This Ordinance shall be effective from and after its passage , approval and five days after its publication, unless otherwise provided for hereinabove.
