ORDINANCE N0 . 2921
.AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON ,
AMENDING CI�APT'ER 22 OF TITLE I {f�DM�NISTRATIVE)
OP ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENT�N" RELATING TO
MUNICIPAL COURT MATTERS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON , WASHINGTON , DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I : Existing Section 1-2202 of Title I (Administra-
tive) of Ckdinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton" is hereby ainended to read as follows :
Section 1-2202 , as amended : SALARY OF JUDGE :
The salary of the Municipal Court Judge shall be fixed and determined
by the City' s Annual Budget.
SECTION II : Section 1-2208 of Title I (Adrrinistrative)
of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City
of Renton" is hereby amended to read as follows :
Section 1-2208 , as amended : PAYMENT OF FINES BY INSTALLMENT ;
ENFO�RC�MENT•'�H�REOF�9 PROBATION--FEE : - Whenever a defenc�.t in the Muni-
cap Court of the City has been convicted of any offense , a judgment
that such defendant pay a fine may also direct that such fine be paid
within a limited time or in installments on certain specified dates
and that in default of payment as stipulated in such judgment , such
defendant shall thereupon be jailed until the fine as originally imposed
by the Court ' s judgment or the then remaining balance of the fine has
been satisfied in full . However unless such direction and stipulation
are provided for in the judgment , all fines shall be payable forthwith
upon entry of such judgment .

Any judgment issued by the Municipal Court providing for
the payment of a fine on the installment basis shall be in writing
and a copy thereof shall be furnished unto the defendant who shall
acknowledge receipt thereof on the original which shall be retai,ned
by the Court. It is further expressly provided, however, that any
defendant who has duly posted an appeal or similar bond shall remain
free pending further disposition of his case as provided by law.
Whenever the judgment of the Court provides for probation ,
including referral to counseling and rehabilitation of the defendant,
then the defendant shall pay unto the City a probation fee in the
sum of $50 . 00 to defray the cost and expense of such referral and
counseling . Any such probation fee shall be non-refundable.
The Court may employ such Secretarial and cleri.cal help,
subject to budgetary allocation by the City Council, in order to
implement and carry out any such probation counseling and rehabilitation

service.
SECTION III : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conf lict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
�assage , approval and five days after its publication, unless otherwise
provided for herei,nabove .
