ORDINANCE N0. 3066
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON I
AMENDING SECTION 1-801 OF TITLE I (ADMINISTRA-
TIVE) OR ORDINANCE NO. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF
GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELAT-
ING TO LEGAL HOLIDAYS I

ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Existing Section 1-801 of Title I (Admini-
strative) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordi-
nances of the City of Renton" be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows :
Section 1-801, as amended: ESTABLISHING LEGAL HOLIDAYS
The following are hereby declared and established as legal holi-
days in the City of Renton and recognized as such legal holidays
for the employees of the City, without loss of pay:
1. The first day of January, commonly called New Year' s
Day
2. The twelfth day of February, being the anniversary
of the birth of Abraham Lincoln
3. The Third Monday in February, being celebrated as
the anniversary of the birth of George Washington
4 . The last Monday in May, commonly known as Memorial
Day
5 . The fourth day of July, being the anniversary of the
Declaration of Independence.
6 . The first Monday in September, to be known as Labor
Day
7. The eleventh day of November, to be known as
Veterans ' Day

8. The fourth Thursday in November, to be known as
Thanksgiving Day

I 9 . The day immediately following Thanksgiving Day.
10 . The twenty-fifth of December, commonly called
Christmas Day.
11. One floating or personal holiday each calendar
year to be selected by the employee as pro-
vided for in Chapter 24 , Laws of 1975-76
2nd Ex. Session (44th Legislative Session) ,
said floating holiday shall be designated as
set forth in WAC 356-18-025.
12. The day before Christmas shall be a holiday for
one-half the city employees and the day fol-
lowing Christmas shall be a holiday for the
other one-half of City employees .
Nothing in this section shall have the effect of adding
or deleting the number of paid holidays provided for in any exist-
. ing bargaining agreements between the City and its employees.
If any of the above specified State legal holidays are
also: Federal legal holidays but observed on different dates , only
•the State legal holidays shall be recognized as a paid legal holi-
day for the employees of the City of Renton as hereinabove set
forth.
Whenever any legal holiday, other than Sunday, falls up-.
on Sunday, the following Monday shall be a legal holiday; likewise
when any such legal holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding
Friday shall be deemed a legal holiday except for New Years 1977
which shall be observed on the following Monday.
If any employee is required to work on a holiday as
hereinabove specified, he or she shall be allowed equivalent time i
off in direct proportion to the total amount of compensable hours �
worked; or in the alternative, and with the prior approval of the
Department Head or Supervisor, shall receive overtime pay, at the �
then applicable overtime rate for such holiday hours worked.
SECTION II : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances I
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective upon its
passage, approval and five days after publication.
