AMENDING SECTIONS 2-1103(A) , (S) , (C) AND (D) AND
SECTION 2-1105 (B) OF TITLE II (CJI�'IISSIONS Ai�TD
BOARDS) OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ET�ITITLED "CODE OF
GENEP.AL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING
TO AMEPdDMENTS AS TO UNFAIR HOUSING PRACTICES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOGJS :
SECTION I : Existing Section 2-1103 of Title II (Co�unis�ons
and Boards) of Ordinance No. 1628 is hereby amended to read as
follows :
Section 2-1103 as amended: UNFAIR HOliSING PP.ACTICES
FORBIDDEN:
(A) No owner, lessee , sublessee, assignee, real estate
broker, real estate salesman, managing agent of, or other
person having the right to sell, rent, lease, sublease,
assign, transfer, or otherwise dispose of a housing
accommodation shall refuse to sell, rent , lease, sublease ,
assign, transfer, or otherwise deny to, or withhold from
any person or group of persons such housing accommodations
or segregate the use thereof, or represent that �ucn housing
accommodations are not available for inspection, when in
fact they are so available, or expel or evict an occupant
from a housing accommodation because of the race, color,
creed, national origin, age, sex or presence of any sensory,
mental, or physical handicap of such person or persons ,
or discriminate against or segregate any person because of
his race, color, creed, national origin, age , sex or the
presence of any sensory, mental or physical handicap , in
the terms , conditions or privileges of the sale, rental,
lease, sublease, assignment, conditions , or privileges
of the sale, rental, lease, sublease, assignment, transfer
or other disposition of any such housing accommodations or
in the furnishing of facilities or services in connection
therewith.

(B) A real estate broker, agent, salesrnan, or employee
shall not, because of race, color, creed, national origin,
age, sex or the presence of any sensory, mental or physical
handicap of an occupant , purchaser, prospective occupant ,
or prospective purchaser:
l. Refuse or intentionally fail to list or discriminate '
in listing a housing acco�mnda.tion � for sale, rerit, lease,
or sublease. �
2. Refuse or �ntentionally fail to show to a pros�ective
occupant the housing accommodation listed for sale, ',
rental, lease, or sublease.
3. Refuse or intentionally fail to accept and/or transmit '
to an owner any reasonable offer to purchase, lease,
rent or sublease a housing �ccomrrlodat`i�o�..
4. Otherwise discriminate against an occupant , prospective
occupant, purchaser, or prospective purchaser of a
housing accommodation.
(C) No person, bank, banking organization, mortgage company,
insuran ce company, or other financial institution or len der,
or any agent or employee thereof, to whom application is
made �or financial assistance for the purchase, lease,
acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, repair, or
maintenance of any housing accomodation shall :
l. Discximinate against any person or group of persons
because of race, color, creed, national origin, age,
sex or the presence of any sensory, mental , or physical
handicap of such per5on or group of persons or of the
prospective occupants or tenants of such real property
in the granting, withho.lding, exten ding, modi�ying, or ,
renewing, or in the rates , terms , conditions , or privileges
of any such financial assistance or in the extension of
services in connection therewith; or

2 . Use any form of application for such financial assistance, I
or make any record of inquiry in connection with applications
for such financial assistance which expresses, directly or
indirectly, any limitation, specification, or discrimination,
on the groun d of race, color, creed, national origin, age,
sex or the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical
handicap.
(D) An owner, person, real estate broker, agent, salesman,
employee, or lender shall not: ,
l. Require any information, make, or keep any record, or I
use any form of application containing questions or entries I
concerning race, color, creed, n ational origin, age, sex,
or the presence of any sensory, inental, or physical I�!,
handicap in connection with the sale, rental , lease or
sublease of any housing accommodation.
2. Publish, circulate, issue, or display, or cause to be
published, circulated, issued or displayed, any communication, ;
I notice, advertisement, or sign of any kind relating to the
sale, rental, lease, sublease, assignment, transfer or
listin of a h i
g ous ng accommodation or accommodations ,which
indicate any preference , limitation, specification or
discrimination based on race, color, creed, national origin,
age, sex or the presence of any sensory, �ental, or physical
handicap.
3. Aid, aUet, incite, compel or coerce the doing of any act
defined in this Chapter as an unfair housing practice; or � �
obstruct or discriminate against a person in any nlanner
because he has complied or proposes to comply with the
provisions of this Chapter or has filed a complaint, testified,
or assisted in any proceeding under this Chapter, or any
I order issued thereunder, or attempt, either directly or
indirectly to commit any act .defined in this Chapter to be ar.
unfair housing practice or ap�ly any economic sanctions or deny
any membership privileges because of compliance with the
provisions of this Chapter.

SECTION II : Existing Section 2-1105 (B) of Title II
(Commissions and Boards) of Ordinance 1628 is hereby amended to read
' as follows :
Section 2-1105 (B) as amended: EXCLUSIONS : Nothing in
this Chapter .shall:
(B) Be interpreted to prohibit any person from making a
choice from among prospective purchaser or tenants or
property on the basis of factors or considerations oth.er
than race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex or
the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical handicap.
SECTION III : An and all ordinanc s r ar s f ordin ces

in conflict herewith a-re hereby repealed.
SECTION IV: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
� upon its passage, approval and five days after its publication.
