ORDINANCE N0. 3165
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
AMENDING SECTION 4-717(c) OF TITLE IV (BUILDING
REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED
"CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON"
RELATING TO ELECTRIFIED FENCES , PROHIBITING SAME
IN CERTAIN INSTANCES AND PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL
OR CONDITIONAL PERMITS
THE CITY COUNGIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : _
� SECTION I Existing Section 4-717 (c) (5) of Title IV
(Building Regulations ) of Ordinarice No. 1628 entitled "Code of General
Ordinance of the City of Renton" is hereby arnended to read as follows :
Section 4-717(c) (5 ) , as amended:
(a) No fence or he�ige shall be located on any public
right of way. '
(b) Effective as of the passage and approval of this
amendatory Ordinance , no fence or other barrier permitted under Section
(1 to 5) , . ¢ '
4-717(c) /or any other provision of the City' S Code �rshall be electrically
charged at any time for any purpose; except 'as expressly permi�tted by
subsection (c) i�unedia�ely following this sub-.par.agraph. Any, existing

electrified fence located in any residential �oned 'property sYiall,
within fifteen C15) days from the effective date of this Ordinance ,
be removed or shut_ off permanen�ly from any such elect�ic current
unless a special or conditional permi`t has been validly � issued as
set forth hereinbelow. �
(c) The City' s Land Use Hearing Examiner may issue a
special or? condi�ional permit , for good cause shown, to permi`�*�an
electrified fence in any busi.ness or industrial-zoned area, or within
any farming or agriculturally used lands for the purpose of containing
or pro`tecting livestock. "Good cause11 sha�l include the necessity for
such electrified fence to protect property of� substantial �ralue of
a commercial, farming , agricultura�l or industrial nature , including
governmental projec�ts involving public safety. and health , and. such
other projects and installations as may be determined by the Hearing
