AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING
SECTION 5-•1607., 5-16091 5-1610 OF CHAPTER 16 OF TITLE.V
(BUSINESS REGULATIONS) OF ORDINANCE N0, 1628 ENTITLED,
."CODE OF GENERAL.ORDINANCES.OF.THE CITY OF RENTON" .
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Existing Sections 5-1607 and 5-1609 of Chapter 16 entitled #'DOG
LICENSES" of -Title V, (Business Regulations) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Renton",Aire hereby amended to read as follows.-

SECTION 5-1607 As amended: POUNDMASTER; DUTIES: The City Council is hereby
authorized to employ a Poundmaster whose duties shall include the picking up and
impounding of all dogs and other animals found is�violation of any provisions of
this Chapter. The Poundmaster shall collect and dispose of dead animals found in
the City and if the owner is known a fee of two dollars ($2.00) may be collected
therefrom for such service. All sick or injured animals shall be impounded when not
in the owner's possession and may be humanely destroyed at the discretion of the
Poundmaster unless redeemed by the owner as hereinafter set forth. Any stray animals
found may be detained at the Pound until the owner or the person proves his right to
the same to the satisfaction of the Poundmaster, subject to payment of fees and costs
as herein provided. Any dog, cat or other animal, requiring a license, found running
at large without a valid license tag attached is declared to be a public nuisance and
shall be impounded. The owner or keeper of such impounded animal as defined in this
Section may redeem same within seventy-two (72) hours upon payment of license fee and
impounding fee of two dollars ($2.00), and beginning the day after such impounding an
additional fee of one dollar ($1.00) per day, or part thereof for care and feed as may
be accrued, provided such animal'is not suffering from any serious injury or disease
requiring special services.
SECTION 5-1609 As amended: CHARGES FOR COLLECTION AND DISPOSITION OF ANIMALS:
The following fees are hereby fiked and established for the care and final disposition
of animals when picked up by the Poundmaster at the owner's place of residence or other
place designated by the owner, to -wit: The sum of two dollars ($2.00) fpr each such
pickup call, regardless of the amount of animals so picked up; impound fee for each
stray dog or other animal covered by this Ordinance Ithe sum of two dollars ($2.00) and
in addition thereto, the sum of one dollar ($1.00) per day, or part thereof, for care
and feed for such animal.; no fee shall be charged by the Poundmaster in the event the
animal in question is delivered to the animal shelter of .the P oundmaster or to its
truck while stationed at the Renton City Hall.
SECTION II: Section 5o.1610 RATES PAID TO POUNDMASTER: Is hereby repealed
in its entirety.
SECTION'.III: All other Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV: This Ordineum shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage, approval and legal publication.
