ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF PARKING METER
CHECKER, DEFINING TERM OF OFFICE, DUTIES, AUTHORITY,
COMPENSATION, MANNER OF APPOINTMENT AND REMOVAL:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS -
Section 1: There is hereby established in the office of the Street Commissione-
the-position of PARKING METER CHECKER. The salary for the position shall be such
amount as may be determined. and provided annually in the City budget. The position
sha, l be filled by appointment by the Mayor with consent of the City Council, and va-
cancies therein shall be filled in the same manner. The Mayor with consent of the City
Council may remove the Parking Meter Checker at any time. The Parking Meter Checker
shall be included in the blanket fidelity bond of City employees; failing which he
-ll be separately bonded in an amount not less than three thousand dollars.
Section 2: The duties of the Parking Meter Checker shall be:
a) To make regular inspections of all vehicle parking meters o.pe�ated
by the City and perform any necessary maintenance, repait' or replacement
of them, so as to keep them in proper operating condition .
b) To collect ffoum such parking meters at appropriate interval's,
.under the direction 'of the City Treasurer, all coins and monies deposited
therein by patrons, and forthwith deliver such collections and funds
directly to the City Treasurer with such accounting and records as the
Treasurer may require.
c). To provide assistance as a Special Policeman under the direction
of the City Treasurer, in such.manner as may be approved or recommended by
the Chief of Police, in the enforcement of parking meter traffic regulations
and other work. Specific responsibilities and duties may be assigned him
by the City Treasurer and/or by the Chief of Police. No specific limitations
upon such duties or authority need be rejuired, except that the Parking Meter
Checker shall not exercise police duties or authority outside of his regular
working hours.
Section 3: This' Ordinance shall be in force and effect January 1, 19 , aftey
i_ts passage, approval and publication,
