AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING A
PORTION OF SECTION 8-715 OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION)
OF ORDINANCE N0. 1628 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO SEWER CHARGES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: Existing subsection (A) of Section 8-715 of Chapter 7,
Title VIII (Health and Sanitation) of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended as follows:
Section 8-715(A) , as amended: SEWER CHARGES, SPECIAL RATES:
A. The monthly rates and charges f�r sewage disposal service shall
be as follows:
� 1. Single-family dwelling units - $3.85
2. All ather users: A charge of Three dollars and eighty-five
cents ($3.85} per month for each nine hundred (900) cubic feet of water used
by apartments, multiple dwelling units of every type and number, business,
commercial, industrial, and all other users.
I3. Charges for sewer service without City water: In the event
that water obtained from sources other than purchased from the City of Renton
Iis either discharged or drained into the sewer system, single-family dwellings
and other users shall be charged by one of the two following methods:
a. Twelve dollars and thirty-five cents ($12.35) per single-
family residence (includes Eight dollars and fifty cents
($8.50) Metro charge) .

I b. Other than single-family dwellings, the Director of
Public Works shall install a water meter into such
private water system at cost to property owners, and
the method of billing shall be in compliance with
Section 8-715(A)2.
SECTION II: Existing subsection {D) of Section 8-715 of Chapter 7,
Title VIII (Health and Sanitation} of Ordinance No. 1628 entitled "Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Renton" is hereby amended as follows:

ISection 8-715(D) , as amended: In addition to the foregoing charges
Ispecified in this section, the following rates shall be charged:

1. A charge of Eight dollars and fifty cents ($8.50) per month,
payable to Metro for each single-family dwelling unit.
I 2. A charge of Eight dollars and fifty cents ($8.50) per month,
Ipayable to Metro for each nine hundred (900) cubic feet of water used by

Iapartments, multiple dwelling units of every type and number, business,
commercial, industrial, and all other users.
3. Any �dditi:ona9. e�arge� h�re�fter i�tp���d by'i�letro untier t`he '�"„
"Industrial Cost Recovery" or "Industrial Waste Surcharge" programs required
under the FWPCA (PL 92-500) , Section 204, or as same may be amended hereafter,
plus 15% thereof as an additional charge for the City's cost of implementing
such programs.
Every single person sixty-two (62) years of age or older and every
single person totally and permanentl,y disabled residing in a single-family
dwelling, either as owner or purchaser, whose income from all sources is Six
hundred sixty-two dollars and seventy-three cents {$662.73) per month or less
and Seven thousand nine hundred fifty-two dollars and seventy--six cents
($7,952.76) per annum or less or, in the case of marital community, both
parties, husband and wife, residing in a single-family dwelling, eith�r as
owner or purchaser, and both spouses being sixty-two (62) years of age or
Iolder, whose total income from all sources is Nine hundred ninety-four dollars
and fifteen cents ($994.15) per month or less and Eleven thousand nine hundred
I twenty-nine dollars and eighty cents ($11,929.80) per annum or less shall pay
the following rates for water and sewer services relating to such
single-family dwelling in which such eligible person or persons permanently
reside:

One dollar !$1.00) per raonth, including the monthly
rate for sewage disposal for a single-family dwelling
unit ($.75 per month for water/$.25 per month for sewer) .
Any excess shall be charged as provided in Section 3-231
of Title III relating to water services.
SECTION III: This ordinance shall be effective with the billings
computed on and after January l, 1986, and after its passage, appraval, and
five days after its publication.
