RESOLUTION NO. 849.
WHEREAS, the RENTON CITY EMPLOYEES t CLUB has heretofore submit-
ted to the City Council of the City of Renton a request for the granting
of sick leave to the employees of the City working on a full time basis
and WHEREAS, such policy of granting sick leave is considered of consi-
derable benefit and importance to the employees and their families,
now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON t
1. The
City Council of the City of Renton hereby adopts as its
(Policy the following system of ranting sick leave to all full time em-
pployees of the
City of Renton, to -wit:
(a)
Each full time City employee who has completed six
(6) months continuous service with the City of
Renton shall,be entitled to not more than five (5)
days of sick leave; any full time employee of the
City of Renton who has completed one (1) year con-
tinuous service with the City shall be entitled to
a period of not more than ten (10) days of sick
leave and an additional period of five (5) days
shall be granted to each full time employee for
each additional six (6) months period of continuous
service with the City but any such accumulated
period of sick leave shall in no event exceed thirty
(30) days; and all the foregoing subject to the fol-
lowing provisions., to -wit:
(b)
Any full time employee who is on sick leave for a
period of two (2) days or less as above specified,
shall, prior to being entitled to compensation
thereof, submit a "sick leave compensation request"
to the head of his Department for approval. The
City of Renton shall make available such request*
forms or cards to the employee which form or card
shall, among others, give the time the employee was
off duty, the reason for being absent from work and
a request for compensation of the time lost. Such
form or card requesting sick leave compensation shall
be submitted to the head of the Dep artmett by the
employee at the earliest possible date.
(c)
Any full time employee who is on sick leave as above
specified for a period of three (3) days or longer,
shall, prior to being entitled to any compensation
thereof, furnish ,without delay a report from a
qualified doctor which shall contain a diagnosis of
the sickness,whenever possible, and in addition to such
doctor's report the employee shall furnish and submit
unto the head of his Department a 'sick leave compensa-
tion request" as provided for in the immediately pre-
ceding paragraph herein.
"Qualified doctor's shall mean a duly licensed doctor of
medicine.
(d) In any case in which an employee shall be entitled
to benefits or payments under the 'Norkmen t s Compen-
sation Act or similar legislation of the State of
Washington, the City of Renton shall pay such addi-
tional amount to the employee so as to allow the
employee, in cm junction with the payments and
benefits received by the compensation acts, comnen-
satior_ equal to the net take -home -pay of a full
day t s work.
It is further provided that the effective date of the Cityts
policy of granting sick leave compensation as hereinabove provided shall
