BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
That for the information of the Washington State Public Service
Commission and the Federal Power Commission in respect to the proposed
merger of Puget Sound -P-ower & Light Co. with Washington Water Power
Co., and in order to avoid the drawing of erroneous inferences or con-
clusions by said Commissions or others as to the policy and positron
of the City of Renton in relation thereto, those State and Federal
Agencies are hereby advised as follows: -
1. That the City of Renton now has pending a condemnation
action looking to acquisition and operation of the Puget
Sound Power & Light Company's electric distribution
system within this lCity as a (municipall. ,',owned and oper-
ated public utility
2. That such is the declared policy of the City of Renton,
adopted pursuant to a Special City Election in which
that action, and municipal ownership and operation of
the electric utility, was approved by popular vote of the
people.
3. That such policy was also formally approved by various
local civic organizations, including the Renton Chamber
of Commerce through a resolution adopted at a regular
meeting of its members September 27, 1950,
4. That any implications negativing or contradicting the above
which might be thought to arise from Renton Chamber of
Commerce Director -0 letter of April 21, 1953 to the Federal
Power Commission, or from other sources, have not been
authorized by the City or its electorate and do not repre-
sent any change in the above existing policy and position
of the City of Renton.
5. That copies of this Resolution be forwarded by theClerk
to the Federal and State Agencies above mentioned and to
the Governor of Washington.
