AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION
7 OF ORDINANCE #855, AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE #1134; AND AMENDING
SECTION 35, OF ORDINANCE #855 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE #8'71, ORDINANCE
#855 BEING EN'T'ITLED, "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO TIE MUZVICIPAL WATER
SUPPLY SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF RMITON, REGULATING THE USE OF WATER THERE-
FROM, PROVIDING FOR THE SALE OF SAME, FIXING THE PRICE TEMEOF AND
PROVIDING A METHOD OF COLLECTING RATES THEREFOR, PROVIDING PENALTIES
FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS
THEREJF IN CONFLICT HEREWITH".
The. City Council of the City of Renton, Washington does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1: That Section 7 of Ordinance #855 of the City of Renton,
Washington, as amended by Ordinance #1134 reading -as -follows:
"Section 7. No service connection less than three-fourths (3/4")
inch in size shall be installed. The fees for the installation of -.water
service as hereinbefore..provided shall be as follows:
For a three fourths (3/411) inch connection x:20.00
For a one (111) inch connection 23.00
For sizes larger than a one (1") inch connection, or where it be-
comes necessary to open, drive or tunnel under a paved street, the actual
cost of labor and material used in laying such a service shall be c1n rged.
In such cases the cost of labor and material shall be estimated by
the Superintendent and such estimated cost shall be paid to the City
Treasurer, or the person appointed by him for the purpose of making
collections for the Vater Department, before the work of connecting the
main with the property is begun. Provided; that whenever the estimated
cost is not sufficient to cover the total expense for labor and materials
the deficit shall be charged to the property for which such.installation
was made and to the owner thereof; And Provided Further, that any excess
payment shall be returned to the person applying for the installation",

shall be and the same hereby is repealed and re-enacted to read as
follows:

provided shall be as follows:

For sizes larger than a one (1) inch connection, or where it be-

SECTION 2: That Section 35 of Ordinance #855 as amended by Ordinance
#871 reading as follows:
"Section 35. The rates for use of water shall be as follows:
FLAT RATES
Private residence $1.25 per month.
Hotels and rooming.houses from $2.25 to $5.25 per month.
Tenement Houses $1.25 per month for each family. A tenement house
shall be held to mean a house where two or more.families live under
the same roof.
Barber Shops $1.25 per month, with an additional charge of 25¢
per month for each bath tub.
Butcher Shops, Lunch Rooms and Restaurants $2.25 per month.
Business Offices and Business Houses $1.25 per month.
Public Halls $1.25 per month.

METER RATES
For the first 1500 cubic feet or less per month or fractional part
thereof $1.25.
Provided; that where two or more separate buildings or premises are
supplied by the same meter the minimum rate shall be $1.25 per month for
each such building or premises, as long as the meter remains on the
service through which the water is supplied.
Exceeding 1500 cubic feet per month, per hundred cubic feet 60.
Except that for manufactories, laundries, motors and elevators the
rate for all water used in excess of 30,000 cubic feet shall be, per
hundred cubic feet 4¢.
Water used for all other purposes not hereinbefore enumerated shall
be furnished and charged for either at meter rates or at a special flat
rate to be fixed by the Superintendent.
In computing meter rates, as provided above, results ending in one
or two cents will be counted "0";,results ending in three, four, six or
seven cents will be counted "5f1; results ending in eight or nine cents
will be counted 1110".
All bills due for water are to be subject to a discount of $0.25
(Twenty -Five Cents) if paid on or before the fifteenth day of the month
in which they are payable".
Be and the same hereby is repealed and re-enacted to read as follows:
Section 35-a. The flat rates for the use of water shall be as
follows:
Private residence $1.25 per month
Hotels and rooming houses from $2.25 to $5.25 per month
Tenement Houses $1.25 per month for each family. A tenement house
shall be held to mean a house where two or more families live under

Section 35-b: The (flat)rates for metered water supplied within
the City of Renton in one month or fractional part thereof, shall be

Each 100 cubic feet in excess of the quantities allowed for the fore-

Each separate building or premises in addition to the first or principal

Water used exclusively for commercial purposes such as schools, laundries,
elevators, public housing, wineries, ceramics, etc., each 100 cubic feet

Water used exclusively for industrial purposes such as foundries, iron
and steel manufacturing, each 100 cubic feet in excess of the first
30,000 cubic feet -----------------------.04
Water furnished for domestic uses within the City Limits of Renton
shall be billed on a quarterly basis, ie., 3 months for $2.25 with a
250 rebate if paid before the 15th of the billing month.
Section 35-0: The rates for metered water supplied to premises not
within the limits of the City of Renton shall be for one month or frac-
tional part thereof, in accordance with the following schedule:

80% of the water is used for manufacturing, golf courses, truck garden-

in one month, except as hereinbefore provided - - - - - - - --- - .11
Provided, also, that the rate to be charged municipal water dis-
tricts organized under the laws of the State of Washia.agton, and where
such municipal water districts operate, maintain and distribute their
water through a master meter furnished by the City shall be as follows:

Section 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect five
days from and after its passage, approval and legal publication as
provided by law.
