New Business:
RMAC Outings – Several sites were suggested to visit, i.e., Cougar Mountain Zoo,
Olympic Sculpture Park, Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center Campus, Galleries in the
City of Kent, and Columbia City Galleries. It was suggested that the trip be made in
either Jan/Feb 2016, with a location and target date of January 16, 2016. Elizabeth will
send an e-mail to determine group preference.
Art Project Ideation and Art Project Worksheet Outlines – These tools, along with a
slide presentation, were presented by RMAC Co-Chair Marsha Rollinger. Her slide
presentation highlighted areas in Renton where art projects could have high impact
for the community and provide great value for the money needed to implement them.
The Art Project Ideation identifies everything that should be considered when
developing a project and the Art Project Worksheet provides a checklist of what
should be included in a project proposal.
All of her ideas were excellent, innovative and exciting. The RMAC members
applauded her efforts and initiative. Further it was decided that Marsha will select a
project for this year to implement with some of the remaining funds available. MSC
(Adrienne/Mitch)
Old Business:
Film Frenzy Update – There are 17 participants in the Film Frenzy. The Screening and
Gala reception will be held at the Carco Theater on Saturday, October 17th at 7:00 pm.
RMAC Budget Update and Discussion – Elizabeth developed a request for a Budget
Adjustment of $36,000 to the city of Renton in time for the December deadline for
preview by her Director. This amount was to pay for art maintenance, signage
replacements, new high resolution photos of the art collection, new RMAC brochure
and a RMAC building awareness art project. After consultation with the Finance
Department, it was determined that the request would require a policy change and
was not a budget adjustment. However, because of department cost savings,
approximately $10,000 will be added to the RMAC budget from the Community and
Economic Development Department this year.
Correspondence and announcements: The correspondence and event folders were
circulated for individual review.
