SUMMARY OF ACTION:
The annual Summer Teen Musical has been a tradition in Renton for 26 years. The production in 2011
was a successful partnership with Renton Civic Theater that lowered operating costs of the production
by reducing City staff and material expenses related to the Recreation Division as being solely
responsible for producing the show.
The fee waiver request includes $4,850.00 in rental fees. Renton Civic Theater will pay the City of
Renton $2,100, which covers City staff expense to open, close, and monitor the theatre during
rehearsals and performances. Renton Civic Theater assumes all other expenses of the production.
Staff is optimistic this production will continue to be more financially solvent working with Renton Civic
Theater. This will result in making the partnership closer to a cost recovery model, while providing
optimal service to the community.
Historically, the Summer Teen Musical provides an opportunity for teens to experience auditions,
rehearsals, and performances of a full-scale musical production. In addition, students receive training in
voice, dance, stage direction, and technical aspects of theater such as lighting design, scene
construction, costuming, and theatrical makeup.
The 2012 annual Summer Teen Musical performances are scheduled to run two weekends (July 27–28
and August 3–5, 2012) and will remain a part of the IKEA Renton River Days celebrations.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the fee waiver request for the production of the 2012 Summer Teen Musical.

SUMMARY OF ACTION:
Rainier Flight Service is requesting to exercise their option to extend their lease for an additional one
year term to expire on March 31, 2013. Rainier Flight Service has been leasing approximately 1,267
square feet on the second floor of the 790 building, and 12,000 square feet of tiedown space at the
Airport since April 1, 2011. They entered into a one year lease that expires on March 31, 2012. The
lease includes an extension option for an additional one year period and Rainier Flight Service wishes to
exercise their option to extend the term of the lease for an additional term to expire on March 31,
2013. The ground lease rate will be increased using the Consumer Price Index-Urban (CPI) from $0.62
to $0.63 per square foot per year, and the building lease rate will be increased from $1.083 to $1.105
per square foot per month. This results in an annual increase of $454.49, the difference between the
current annual total of $23,905.93 and the increased annual total of $24,360.42, plus Leasehold Excise
Tax.
