Meeting Minutes
July 15, 2008
4:30 p.m.—City Hall — 7th floor Conferencing Center
i. CALL TO ORDER
Mike O'Donin, Past Chair, called the July 15, 2008, meeting to order at 4:30
p.m.
In Attendance
The following persons were present:
Members: Tim Searing, Cynthia Burns, Michael O'Donin, Ron Regis,
Staff: Terry Higashiyama, Sandy Pilat, Leslie Betlach, Jerry Rerecich,
Kelly Beymer, Jennifer Henning
Absent: Troy Wigestrand, AI Dieckman, Larry Reymann
II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
A motion was made and seconded to approve the agenda as presented. All
were in favor, motion carried, the July 2008 agenda was approved.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Cynthia Burns to approve the June 2008 minutes as
written. Ron Regis seconded the motion, all were in favor, motion carried.
IV. CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
At the June 23, 2008, Council meeting a proclamation was read by Mayor Law
declaring the month of July 2008 to be "Parks and Recreation Month" in the
City of Renton and encouraging all citizens to join in this special observance as
recreation and parks programs enhance quality of life by contributing to a
healthy lifestyle, promoting safety and security, building self esteem, teaching
life skills, and providing places for recreational opportunities. A copy of the
proclamation was mailed to each of the Board members.

V. CONSENT
None
VI. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
Jennifer Henning, Community Economic Development, was in attendance at
the meeting to discuss the growing problem of graffiti and vandalism in our
community and how the City is coping with it. She further explained the
existing code(s) at the City and enforcement of those codes and the
responsibility of the home and/or business owner that has been hit.
She also distributed handouts on reporting those in violation of city codes and
noted the process would be anonymous.
Off-Leash Dog Park Task Force
Terry Higashiyama gave an update on the progress of the Task Force. She
noted the group has had several meetings and she is very pleased with the
level of participation and the group's commitment. A report will be presented to
the Park Board in September with a recommendation on how the team would
like to proceed.
VII. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT
A map was distributed outlining additional areas for annexation to clean up the
boundaries.
Terry Higashiyama commented on the success of the Cascade Park clean-up
and thanked Larry Reymann for his participation.
VIII. OLD BUSINESS
Terry Higashiyama reminded everyone there would not be a regular meeting in
August. Instead a tour would be offered of the Springbrook Trail area along
with the newly annexed areas of Benson Hill. Michael, Cynthia and Tim
indicated they were interested in going. Sandy will email everyone to confirm
their attendance to allow for adequate transportation. It was decided to start
the tour at the regular meeting time of 4:30 p.m.

November City Hall
December Social meeting, location to be determined
IX. INFORMATION
Information was provided regarding the upcoming Teen Musical, sign ups for

the Renton River Days Community Services booth, Art Show, and Day in the
Park.
X. ADJOURNMENT
Cynthia Burns made a motion seconded by Ron Regis to adjourn the July
meeting. All were in favor, motion carried meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
