NIISSION STATEMENT
Renton Public Library supports lifelong learning for the public by anticipating and responding to
community needs for information, and by inspiring and encouraging the community's desire to read.

MINUTES
1. CALL TO ORDER: The December 13, 2007,meeting of the Library Board at the Renton Public
Library began at 7:04 p.m.
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Amy Pieper MOVED THAT THE AGENDA FOR December 13,
2007,be approved. SECONDED by John Dubois. The motion CARRIED.
3. REVIEW OF MINUTES: Amy Pieper MOVED THAT THE MINUTES OF November 8, 2007,
be approved. SECONDED by Peter Hartley. The motion CARRIED.
4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None.
5. COMMiJNICATIONS: None.
6. FINANCIAL REPORT: The November 2007 Renton Public Library Expenditure Status Report
was distributed to Board Members. Expenditures through November are on track at 92% of the
annual budget.
7. MONTHLY REPORT: STATISTICS—The November 2007 Renton Public Lib�ary Statistics
report was distributed to the Board. (A copy is attached to these minutes.)
8. OLD BUSINESS: MASTER PLAN—The Consultants are warking on the final part of the
Library Master Plan. We anticipate presenting the Plan to the Renton City Council early in
2008.
BUDGET 2008—The 2008 Library Budget was approved without changes.
AUDIO-VISUAL AREA—Shelving used for magazine back-issues has been cut down and is
ready to install in the audio-visual area. The library will close one day between Christmas and
New Years for this installation.

COMPUTERS —Ten new public computers, including two in the Young Adult area, have been
installed with Thin Client software. All are working well. The computers feature Word 2007 and
flat screen monitors. The Library sells a$7.00 USB device to patrons who need a way to save
their work.
TALK TIME—A Talk-Time flyer was distributed to the Board. This ne�v program begins
Wednesday, January 9 at 6:30 p.m.
9. NEW BUSINESS: ELECTIONS—2008 Renton Public Library Board President—Peter Hartley.
10. ADJOURNM�NT: The meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m. The next regular meeting of the Library
Board is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the Renton Public Library.
