CALL TO ORDER: The October 8, 2009, meeting of the Library Board at the Renton Public Library was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Catherine Ploue-Smith. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Peter Hartley MOVED THAT THE AGENDA FOR October 8, 2009, be approved. SECONDED by Amy Pieper. The motion CARRIED. 3. REVIEW OF MINUTES: Peter Hartley MOVED THAT THE MINLJTES OF September 10, 2009, be approved. SECONDED by Amy Pieper. John DuBois noted that the other Board Members present concurred with his request for information about the City's insurance coverage for the library. The motion CARRIED. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: None. 5. COMMLTNICATIONS: None. 6. FINANCIAL REPORT: 'Fhe Expenditure Status Report for September 2009 was distributed. 7. MONTHLY REPORT: STATISTICS—September 2009 statistics were distributed. 8. OLD BUSINESS: STAFF—The KCLS (King County Library System)Human Resources Department staff inet one-on-one with Renton Library Circulation staff to discuss current job duties to more accurately match our employees with KCLS job descriptions and duties. We will be meeting with-KCLS and the City's Human Resources department early in November to discuss the results of the position analysis. ANNEXATION INFORMATION DOCIJMENTS—A"Frequently Asked Questions''document is being developed and is scheduled to be posted on the library website, and prepared in a print version by October 19. The print version will be available in the libraries, at the Community Centers and at City Hall. The document will be sent to the Public Disclosure Commission for an opinion as to whether it meets the criteria for factual information. 1 RENTON�BLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUS�S MEETING October 8, 2009 HOWARD HANSEN DAM INFORMATION—Bette Anderson referred the Board to the information and maps posted on the City's website. Catherine Ploue-Smith suggested the King County website as another excellent resource. INSURANCE—Bette Anderson explained that the City of Renton is self-insured. In the case of datnage due to floods or other natural disasters, damage to the library and contents would be covered on a prioritized basis with other City properties. BABY STORYTIME—The ne�� storytime program for ages 0-18 months is proving to be very successful. Attendance is between 22-25 babies with their adults. CEDAR RNER NATURALISTS—Naturalists will present salmon information to the public on the library deck beginning next weekend and running through the first week of November. RTC COMMUNITY BOOKSHELF—In partnership with the Renton Technical College Library, Outreach Librarian Kris Baker has created a small collection of books for children and families, housed in the college library, that can be checked out by students and teachers. Kris will refresh the collection with new offerings once a month. 9. NEW BUSINESS: None. 10. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 8:30pm.
