CALL TO ORDER: Pat Pepper, Chair, calied the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.
A.NNtJUNCEMENT: Dawn Murin annaunced her resignation fram the Municipal Arts
Commission effective February 6, 2008. The Commission will advertise for applicants.
INTRODUCTIUN OF SPECIAL GUESTS: Lynn Bohart, Executive Director of the
Renton Cammunity Foundation and Marcie Maxweli, Board Member of the Renton
Camrnunity Foundation, gave a presentatian on the background of the foundatian. It was
� established in 1999 to provide a means for peapie to make charitable contributians ta
benefit the greater Renton area. The foundation manages over$3 million for a variety of
worthwhile causes. Danors retain the right to activeiy participate in awarding grants and
the donor designates a specific charitable organization ar cause ta receive assistance. The
foundation is a SO1(C}3 organization allowing donors to receive ta�c advantages. Anyone
wishing to donate should phane 425-687-4622.
APPRUVAL OF MINUTES: In Diane Wagner's absence, the January minutes were
not presented. The Commission requested these rninutes be approved at the Maz'ch 5,
2008,meeting.

MASTER PLAN O RMAC: Peter Renner mentioned an�agenda bill and an
ordinance will be submitted to Council in March introducing the Municipal Arts
Commission(MAC) 5-year Master Plan for Arts and Culture. It will include the City's
vision and goals for future works of public art and a strategic plan to implement the
goals. A consultant will be hired to complete the Plan.
CORRESPONDENCE: Ellie Simpson distributed information from various art
commissions in outlying areas.
Suzanne Dale Estey, Director of Economic Development, announced that the Facilities
Division will no longer be the liaison for the Commission. In the near future, the
Department of Community and Economic Development will oversee the Commission.
Peter announced the Community Services Division is moving from City Hall on Grady
Way to the Liberty Park Building on Bronson Way North. Human Services and
Communities In Schools are relocating to the former City Hall at 200 Mill Avenue South.
The move was necessitated due to the Benson Hill acquisition and will result in many
new employees who will reside at the City Hall on Grady.
Vincent Orduna mentioned the walls of Carco Theatre have been bare since November
and encouraged the Commissioners to display some artwork. He also announced that
Adam Smith will be appearing at Carco in March and artwork is needed prior. Evelyn
Reingold indicated Buckley Imports might loan some artwork. She will meet with
Vincent to discuss.
A local art agency meets once per month and Vincent attends on behalf of the City every
other month. Linda Middlebooks, Fred Lund, and Jerri Everett offered to attend.
The monthly packets included a letter from ARTECH and a bid, as well as a description
of the art pieces requiring annual maintenance.
It was questioned if the plaque for Heritage Park has been ordered. Peter Renner will
check on this and report back at the March meeting.
Peter was presented a window hanging for his office.
Mike O'Halloran has updated the Commission's Annual Report.
BUDGET REVIEW: Peter Renner explained there is $9,500 in the 2008 budget.
ACTION ITEMS: The Municipal Arts Commission website information needs to be
updated to include goals, objectives, and accomplishments.
The 1% for Art ideas is an on-going project. The Second and Main Development Project
will be discussed in April or May.
Mike O'Halloran would like Uptown Glassworks reimbursed in the amount of$300 for
the materials required to rehabilitate the"Welcome To Renton" sign. Ellie Simpson
made a motion to take the$300 out of the 1%for Art budget. Second by Fred. All in
favor, motion carried.

NEW SUSINESS: �,,,�,,�er Renner was asked to get the"litite�'� artwork" from Fire
Station#13.
It was mentioned that it is now time to soticit applications to apply for the ]°lo far Art
grants. The sooner, the better. Unce Diane returns, she will get a capy of iast year's
letter and present it ta the Commission.
February is Biack History Month. Cards were distributed featuring a performancc at
Carco Theatre featuring Choklate on February 23r�at 7:30 p.m. The cast is$10 per
person. Vincent 4rduna mentianed Chaklate is the sister of Fire Chief David Daniels.
A committee was established ta meet criteria for dispensing funds fram the budget. The
volunteer cammittee memhers include Mike O'Halloran, Eveiyn Reingold, Fred Lund,
and Doug Kyes. The committee will report back to RMAC at the March meeting.
Vincent 4rduna was asked ta provide a letter af intent from the Paul Allen Farnily
Faundation as weil as providing capies af ald grants.
