Guests: Hannelore Maas Ron (Earl) Pieper The meeting was called to order by Pete Maas at 4:35 p.m. I. APPROVAL OF AGENDA Jean Hobart made a motion to approve the agenda as presented. All were in favor, agenda approved. II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Paul Wantzelius made a motion to approve the November 1, 2007, meeting minutes as written. Craig Paynter seconded the motion; all were in favor, minutes approved. III. COMMITTEE COMMUNICATION Pete Maas received a call from John Neller asking about the money made available to the City to fix dikes. Leslie Betlach indicated that Ron Straka in Public Works would be the contact for this information. V. CONSENT ITEMS None. VI. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Park Board: Pete Maas reported on the November 20, 2007 Park Board meeting. The proposed revised Park Rules and Regulations were reviewed at the meeting. Leslie Betlach discussed the PowerPoint presentation that was presented during the Park Board meeting. This presentation was an overview of Parks and Recreation for the City of Renton and was part of a larger budget overview. The presentation included information on acreage,park types and building facilities, and number of youth and adults served through recreation programs. Craig Paynter asked about the annexation and how this affects the city's population. Leslie Betlach pointed out that the current pre-annexation population of Renton is approximately 60,000. The Benson annexation will increase the population by approximately 20,000 to 80,000 and adds approximately 2,100 acres. VII. OLD BUSINESS 1. Committee Membership: Pete Maas contacted all five members with terms that were expiring. These five members would like to continue their membership on the board. A motion was made to accept new terms on the following committee members: Dorothy Flowers (2008-2009) Pete Maas (2008-2009) Robert Peterson (2008-2009) Janene Sestak (2008-2009) Paul Wantzelius (2008-2009) All committee members were in favor, motion carried. 1:�2007 Files�2007-232mb(NonMotorized-Dec 07 Minutes).doc 7 � � Renton Non-Motorized Tr�ansportation Advisory Committee December 6,2007,Meeting Minutes Page 3 of 4 2. Proposed 2008 Slate of Officers: Chair: Pete Maas Vice-Chair: Bob Elliot No new nominations from the floor. Dorothy Flower made a motion seconded by Janene Sestak to accept Pete Maas as Chair. All were in favor, motion carried. Jean Hobart made a motion seconded by Craig Paynter to accept Bob Elliot as Vice-Chair. All were in favor, motion carried. 3. Recap Boards and Commission Training: Pete Maas noted a review packet from the training was mailed to each member. Janene Sestak added that she was inspired by the training. Looking at the attributes, beliefs, and values of a committee promotes new and fresh ideas. 4. Pete Maa.s suggested the committee review the NMTAC goals established for 2007 and think about 2008 goals. Craig Paynter also suggested it might be a good idea to publish the 2007 goals with the meeting minutes. 5. Duvall Bike Lanes: The committee was copied on email exchanges between Dan Hasty, Craig Paynter, and Bob Elliot. It does not appear that the City will do any striping at this location. Discussion followed as to what options might be feasible at this location. 6. Fort Dent Connector: Bob Elliot shared a flyer that was mailed from Julia Patterson, King County Council on parks and trails and the recent passage of two parks levies. A copy of Bob Elliot's email to Councilmember Julia Patterson regarding South King County Trail System was mailed to each member prior to the meeting. The committee discussed missing links in the area. 7. Houser Way Sidewalk: No update was provided on this subject as Dan Hasty was out of the office. 8. Ron Regis Park: Paul Wantzelius noted the flooding issue at this site was much better, but there continues to be some water. Leslie Betlach indicated the recent rain storm was not a normal event and there would likely be some water. VIII. NEW BUSINESS 1. A motion was made to move the regularly scheduled meeting for the month of January to January 10, 2008 because of the date falling so close to the holiday. Pete Maas thanked the committee members for a good year and a job well done. IX. CORRESPONDENCE None. X. ADJOURNMENT Robert Peterson moved to adjourn the meeting.
