Renton Airport Advisory Committee Meeting
Tuesday, April 22, 2014
5:30 PM Meeting called to order by Chair Chuck Kegley, and review of agenda items.
5:35 PM Chuck Kegley and Councilmember Marcie Palmer presented former Chair Ulf
Goranson with a gift and thanked him for his years of service on the committee,
and the last three years as committee chair.
5:45 PM Review of December 10, 2013 minutes, unanimously approved.
• Doug Jacobson and Chuck Kegley advised the Committee that nominations are
being sought for a committee co-chair. The preference is for a neighborhood
member. Current committee members may nominate themselves or others.
Nominations will also be sought at the next committee meeting with a vote
after that. One question from the members was about the term's duration.
Doug commented that the terms are for three years. Chuck mentioned that
the terms of the co-chairs should be staggered. Marleen Mandt nominated
herself at the meeting.
5:50 PM Neighborhood Communications —
• Helicopter operations over the Kennydale area have increased since last
December. Unable to identify type of helicopter(s) — possibly the King County
Sheriff or units from JBLM.
• Task Item 1) Compile and distribute Airport general and contact information to
Neighborhood Associations and Homeowner Associations via Norma
McQuiller.
• Task Item 2) Send periodic update of RAAC business items to local papers.
6:00 PM Airport Business Management —
• Jonathan Wilson provided a brief review of status of FAA tower funding and
tower lease, the Comcast lease, and other lease amendments.
Airport Operations/Maintenance Highlights
• Discussion on schedule for North Bridge project (June 2 — August 15/in-water
work. Additional work will continue out of the water into October or
November of 2014.

• Jonathan Wilson provided a brief review of status on operations projects
Airport Capital Project Status Report
• Ben Dahle provided a brief review of status of capital improvement projects
6:43 PM Old Business -
• Doug Jacobson provided a review and status check on Performance Based
Navigation, and noted that Renton has been put on the FAA's list of airports for
PBN once federal funding is available.
• Marcie noted that every position on the committee is now filled.
6:50 PM New Business -
• Doug Jacobson provided a brief an overview of the Airport Master Planning
process, and asked for a volunteer to sit on the consultant selection interview
panel. There were 3 volunteers; Diane Paholke, Mark Spiegelman, and Harold
(KC) Jones.
• The Airport will host an evening tour and barbecue for committee members
to familiarize them with the Airport facilities, operations and projects. A
tentative date was set for Tuesday, May 13, beginning at 5:30pm.
• Marcie Palmer suggested inviting the reporter from Renton Reporter that
wrote the blast fence article to the RAAC BBQ.
