CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 4:30 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: COMMISSIONER BRITT MCKENZIE PRESENTEDTHE MINUTES FOR AUGUST
2013MOTIONED BY JARIS ENGLISH, 2ND BY MITCH SHEPHERD. MINUTES APPROVED.
CORRESPONDENCE AND ANNOUNCEMENTS: Jennifer Davis Hayes passed around the correspondence
folder for individual review.

OLD BUSINESS:
Downtown Renton Mural
Rick Moreno,the artist planning on placing the mural on the walls of the burned out building on 3�d and
Wells, discovered that the site was not appropriate. He will be searching in downtown Renton for
another site.
Art Collection Committee-Evelyn Reingold lead
The committee has sorted through the City collection and will be making a decision on placement after a
meeting with the Resource Committee.

The Highlands library plan is moving forward. The downtown library plans have encountered another
some delays, but the Hearing Examiner determined that the entry door had no significant historical
value and could be moved.
NEW BUSINESS:
Goals for 2014
Discussion followed, should we have a retreat now or wait until the new liaison from City Hall is
appointed to the ARTs Commission. It was decided to aim for a date in early November. Ben will send
out a Doodle to try to determine a date convenient for the majority.
Renton School District PTA—Reflections Program
A presentation was made by Catherine Ploure Smith,from the Renton School District PTSA about the
"Reflections" project. The object of this project is to work with teachers and principals of the schools in
Renton to expose the students to the fact that art comes in many various mediums. They would like a
representative from the Arts Commission to contribute time to this project.
ADJOURNMENT: The September 3, 2013 meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm. The next meeting will be
held on October 1, 2013 in the Renton City Hall Conferencing Center(7th Floor)at 4:30 pm.
