President Ben Cheney called the meeting to order at 10:00 A.M. Attendance was taken. Minutes of the
previous meeting were approved as read.
TREASURER'S REPORT—Treasurer, Rose Warren, reported the following:
Bank Statement $12,697.39
Emergency Fund 203.25
Petty Cash 20.23
Forgotten Badge Fund 6.50
Interest for October .32
RECREATION SUPERVISOR'S REPORT—Shawn Daly
• Shawn Daly introduced Cindy Zwart of Senior Services. Cindy explained the new "Hyde Shuttle" van
Service that is in partnership with King County Metro. This free neighborhood van service is for seniors age 55
and older and people with disabilities of any age living within the city limits of Renton. There are no forms to
fill out; sign-up by phone; lift-equipped; call up to 30 days in advance; no charge for service (donations
� accepted); service hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00-4:00 PM; service begins January 3, 2012. This service
will not replace Metro Access.
� At the previous meeting Douglas Gregory, Ben Cheney and Marge Cochran-Reep were asked to meet
with Shawn to discuss future projects/programs to be funded from the "Ikuta Foundation." At the scheduled
meeting a copy of "Ikuta's Will "was provided to the sub-committee; V1/ill states money is to be used for the

benefit senior citizens in the building. Example: if we should lose financial support for the Renton River Days
picnic at RCC what would we do? It would be a viable option to draw funds from the "Ikuta Foundation;" and,
' if there is a definite need that comes up that the committee sees then looks at them. Sub-committee is
adamant about no capital improvements being funded with the "Ikuta Foundation."
• Shawn handed out to each board member an invitation to participate in a Board & Commission Train-
ing at the Senior Center on Wednesday, November 30, from 5:30-8:30 PM; dinner will be provided.
• Starting January 1, 2012 we will have two openings on the Advisory Board; Mary Burns-Haley and
Douglas Gregory is resigning. In the process of accepting applications from senior citizens interested in
serving on this committee; deadline to apply is November 30. Ben indicated Emilie McCue and Sandra Polle

will contact each member having an expiration date of 2011 to inquire if they plan to continue on this
committee for the next three years as well as for new officers. The meeting on December 19 will be short in
recognition of Mary Burns-Haley and Douglas Gregory's resignation. A dilemma in January. January Znd
meeting is closed due to New Year's Day and January 16th meeting closed for Martin Luther King Day. Shawn

contacted Mayor Denis Law t�nd the February 6t" meeting for inst�on of new members, renewal of ��'
members and officers.
Mary Burns-Haley asked if applicants applying for the Advisory Committee will have ample time to
attend a meeting required in the by-laws. It was moved by Elaine Koehler second by Emilie McCue if a
candidate is unable to attend one of the scheduled meetings required in the By-Laws, they will be excused.
Motion taken;Sandra Polley apposed; motion carried.
o Library remodel project has been finalized; budget was $75,000.00; came in under budget$66,032.97.
• Agenda on Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be changed slightly; eliminating games due to lack of involve
ment; keep coffee bar and bingo; focus mainly on the dinner.
• Saturday, November 12th, the Lions Club is hosting a dinner for the Worid War II Veterans'. ,
• Received a $25.00 check from Elaine Koehler in memory of Mary Classen. I,
• Tina our custodian is leaving the end of this month to become a meter maid for the City of Renton.
• Emilie McCue was correct at the last meeting; people are removing cups from the facility; one of our
pool players walked out the front door with a cup; he brought it back the next day.
RECREATION COORDINATOR'S REPORT— Debbie Little
• Craft Bazaar was a success; sold donuts and coffee.
• Trip —Tulalip Casino/Seattle Premium Outlet Stores; 11/18.
� • Cooking w/Cher—Classic Meatloaf; 11/9.
• Veteran's Day Luncheon; 11/10.
• November 11th—Veteran's Day Holiday; center closed.
• Financial Workshop— Roth Conversions & Required Minimum Distribution; 11/14.
• Free Presentation: Finding the Right Senior Housing; 11/1.5.
RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT—Tim Williams
• How will we replace you Mary? Thank you for serving so diligently and devoted to the committee; as
well as Doug.
• Tonight at the City Council the Park & Recreation Open Space Plan will be presented for approval and
voted for adoption. I will ask Leslie Betlach, leading person on the project, to attend a meeting to give an
overview of what the pro plan means.
• Debbie Little, Sandra Polley and I attended the "Aging Your Way: Conversations For Community
Change" workshop on October 20. I will have Sandra comment.
• Hassel Free All Day Craft Bazaar at RCC; November 18-19.
• Coulon Beach Clam Lights on December 2"d; Argosy Christmas Ship present.
• Piazza Tree Lighting; December 3�d at 5:00 PM.
• Canine Dog Run on December 4th at RCC.
• Tim shared a document that Shawn Daly, Debbie Little and he have been working on, "The Cost
Recovery Program." Tim went into detail explaining what it means and how it works with the pro plan.
It's always a changing document, things go up in price; utilities go up and increase in employees benefits.
COMMENTS:
Mary Burns-Haley—appreciate it if each member would write a little memoir, either good, bad or indifferent
that you have had with me; I'm going to put a scrapbook together I can look at and read; my younger son will
cherish them.
Sandra Polley—As Tim mentioned Debbie said we attended, "Aging Your Way." I had the pleasure to sit at a
table with Debbie, Tim and Wendy Kirshner. They served a very nice dinner. We were a recipient of a huge

'� piece of paper and were to writ�n our ideas what�we would like to s�r communities being and where
we would be in our communities.
Mary Lou Gilbert—Shawn you commented Renton River Days and sponsorship; what kind of money are we
talking about. We currently have two sponsors each donating haif; it's a $3,000 sponsorship.
Pat Baylor— RSVP report handed to the secretary. Proud to announce the Historical Committee have
completed their file drawer; upon completion it is noted minutes of the Advisory Board meetings from 2006-
2011 to date are not in the drawer. Spoke to Marge, she will provide originals for the files. Mary Burns-Haley
wanted project completed before year's end.
Marjorie Cochran-Reep— explained Carmel Camerini had previously scheduled plans and would be unable to
attend today's meeting. I had Carmel help prepare the minutes; explained purpose of the committee and
answered questions she might have.
President Ben Cheney adjourned the meeting at 11:10 AM.
