CALL TO ORDER Chair Laurie Beden called the meeting to order at 5:42 p.m. In Atter�dance, Members: Laurie Beden,Amy Pieper, Erica Richey, Catherine Ploue-Smith, Suzi Ure City of Renton Staff: Terry Higashiyama, Marty Wine, Diane Wagner KCLS Staff: Angelina Benedetti Others Present Peter Renner, City of Renton II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA A motion was made by Erica Richey, seconded by Suzi Ure, to approve the Agenda. All were in favor, motion carried, Agenda approved. I11. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Suzi Ure, seconded by Erica Richey, to approve the Minutes. All were in favor, motion carried, Minutes approved. IV. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC COMMENTS None. V. BOARD COMMUNICATION Suzi commented on her attendance at the Friends of the Library meeting and tour of miscellaneous library sites in Edmonton, Canada. VI. CITY REPORT/MARTY WINE None. VII. KCLS REPORT/ANGELINA BENEDETTI Angelina briefly discussed the following Library Programs and Services: • One-on-One Computer Help is now being offered two days a month at the Renton Library. Patrons can sign up for 25 minutes of time to work on a computer project (a resume, an email account) with a trained KCLS Netmaster. It meets every T s a from 7:00 .m. to 8:30 .m. ue d y p p • "Game On"—a teen amin ro ram—is being iloted once-a-week at the Renton g gp g p Highlands Library through January and February. We will evaluate the success of the pilot at the end of two months. • Renton Library will begin offering a Spanish storytime once-a-week, beginning in March. • Fairwood and Renton Libraries have been selected for KCLS Community Studies in 2011. Past Community Studies are available on the KCLS website, http://www.kcls.org/a bout/com m u n itvstud ies/. Angelina advised that the Literary Lions Auction is scheduled for March 5, 2011 at the Bellevue Library, beginning at 6:00 p.m. VI11. DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS Peter Renner, City of Renton Facilities Director, discussed the status of site selections including the inter-local agreement between the City and KCLS, construction/construction team information, and ongoing developments. IX. OLD BUSINESS After a brief discussion about the final version of the Bylaws, a motion was made by Amy Pieper, seconded by Suzi Ure,to approve the Bylaws. All were in favor, motion carried, Bylaws approved. The Master Plan was briefly discussed and handouts distributed for review and ideas for the next meeting. Board members were asked to bring completed sheets to February meeting. Diane will also email sheet to all members. X. NEW BUSINESS None. XI. INFORMATION Terry mentioned the following: • 2011 Renton River Days is scheduled for July 22nd_24tn. • The Rotary Book Collection for Third World Countries is ongoing through April 2, 2011. XII.
