We are enclosing herewith for the files of the City of
Renton, permit Noe 60735 in favor of the City, granting permission
to lay a one inch water pipe line beneath our tracks 2 ft, north
from the south line of 8th Ave. No.
Please note the requirements of paragraph 6 as to placing
the pipe. This work, of course, should be done under the super-.
vision of our section foreman.

Dear Sir:
Your recent application to install water
pipe line on our right of way at Renton has been
approved and I am enclosing permit No. 60735 in dupli-
cate for execution on the part of the City officials.
The application you made calls for a 20
year lease, but you will note that we have made the
permit on our permanent form which provides that it
is terminable when you cease to maintain and operate
the line, which should be satisfactory for your
purposes.
You will also note that there has been
added for our protection clause 6 providing that the
pipe line shall be encased in larger pipe. We have
made no rental charge for the permit.

the State of Washington,
;hereinafter called the second party,to construct,operate and
ma twin up to ri*ht of vaav and beneath its tracks a one (1) inch water pipe line
along tie o nurse described as follows:
Crossing the first party's 100-foot right of gray for its
Belt Line in Government Lot 2 of section 7 and northwest quarter
of southwest quarter of section 8 in township 23 north of range 5
east of the Willamette Meridian in King County, Washington, at
RENTON station, extending along a line parallel with and distant
two (2) feet northerly from the south line of Eighth Avenue North.
This permission is granted upon the following terms:

2. The entire cost shall be borne by the second party; the division superintendent of the first party will decide what portion if any of
the work will be done by the first party, and for such portion the second party will pay the first party the estimated cost before the work is
done;if the actual cost exceeds the estimate,the second party will pay the additional amount when called upon;if the actual coat is less than
the estimate,the first party will repay the surplus. All work hereunder by the second party shall be done in a first-class workmanlike manner
to the satisfaction of the division superintendent of the first party,and in accordance with plans and specifications which he may prescribe
or approve. The division superintendent of the first party shall have the right at any time when in his judgment it becomes necessary or
advisable, to require any material used in the work to be replaced with like material or with material of a more permanent character;also
to require additional work or changes of location as a matter of safety, or of appearance, or on account of additional tracks being laid,
change of grade, or for any other reason connected with the operation of the railroad of the first party; all of which shall be done at the
expense of the second party in the manner herein provided.
3. The second party agrees that the improvements shall not at any time damage the railroad or structures of the first party,or be a
menace to the safety of its operation;and to indemnify and save harmless the first party from all loss and damage to its tracks,roadbed,struc-
tures,rolling stock and other property of the first party and property of third persons, and from injuries to persons occasioned by the
improvements.
4. This permit cannot be transferred or assigned by the second party without the written consent of the first party.
5. If the second party shall at any time cease to maintain and operate the said water pipe ins
or shall fail faithfully to perform every agreement of this instrument,the first party may
forthwith terminate this permit and may forthwith expel the second party from its premises;and at the end of the permit the second party
will restore the premises of the first party to their former state.
6. The second party agrees to inclose said pipe line within a pipe
of larger diambter and to place the same so that the top of the encase-
ment pipe shall not be less than two feet below the bottom of the ties.

of our Company at Tacoma, Washington.
This will also call attention to the fact
that we have granted permit to Defense Plant Corporation for
pipe lines on both sides of our right of way to serve the
Boeing Plant.

exact location of crossing, also method of construction.

Due to the construction of a building on the South
side of Eighth Avenue North, in the City of Renton, it
will be necessary for the City of Renton Water Department
to run a one-inch line under your right-of-way at that
point.
Application is hereby made for an easement to install
this line. If there is any other information that you
need on this matter, you can get it either by contacting
Peter Dullahant, City Water Superintendant, or myself.
