GENERAL BYPASS/OWS NOTES
1. ALL DIMENSIONS SHOWN REPRESENT INTERIOR OF CONCRETE LINED STEEL STRUCTURE. SEE STRUCTURAL DETAILS FOR STRUCTURAL DESIGN AND
REINFORCEMENT INFORMATION.
2. PIPE AND COALESCING PLATE PACK SUPPORT/HOLD DOWN SHALL BE ALUMINUM OR STEEL AND BE ANCHORED AT A MAXIMUM SPACING OF 36".
ATTACH PIPE SUPPORTS TO STRUCTURE WITH 5/8-INCH STAINLESS STEEL EXPANSION BOLTS OR EMBED THE SUPPORTS INTO THE STRUCTURE WALL.
3. THE RISERS AND TEES SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MATERIALS:
0.060" CORRUGATED ALUMINUM ALLOY DRAIN PIPE
0.064" CORRUGATED ALUMINIZED STEEL DRAIN PIPE
0.060" ALUMINUM ALLOY FLAT SHEET, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM B 209, 5052 H32 OR EPS
4. FRAMES AND LADDERS OR STEPS ARE TO BE OFFSET SO THAT: THE SHEAR GATE IS VISIBLE FROM THE TOP AND THE CLIMB -DOWN SPACE IS CLEAR
OF THE RISER AND GATE.
5. RESTRICTOR PLATE ORIFICE OPENING IS TO BE CUT ROUND AND SMOOTH.
6. THE SHEAR GATE SHALL BE MADE OF ALUMINUM ALLOY IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM B 26 AND ASTM B 275, DESIGNATION ZG32A; OR CAST IRON IN
ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM A 48, CLASS 308. THE LIFT HANDLE SHALL BE MADE OF A SIMILAR METAL TO THE GATE (TO PREVENT GALVANIC CORROSION),
IT MAY BE OF SOLID ROD OR HOLLOW TUBING, WITH ADJUSTABLE HOOK AS REQUIRED. A NEOPRENE RUBBER GASKET IS REQUIRED BETWEEN THE
RESTRICTOR PLATE MOUNTING FLANGE AND THE GATE FLANGE. INSTALL THE GATE SO THAT THE LEVEL -LINE MARK IS LEVEL WHEN THE GATE IS OPEN.
THE MATING SURFACES OF THE LID AND THE BODY SHALL BE MACHINED FOR PROPER FIT. ALL SHEAR GATE BOLTS SHALL BE STAINLESS STEEL.
7. THE SHEAR GATE MAXIMUM OPENING SHALL BE CONTROLLED BY LIMITED HINGE MOVEMENT, A STOP TAB, OR SOME OTHER DEVICE.
8. ALTERNATIVE SHEAR GATE DESIGNS ARE ACCEPTABLE IF MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS ARE MET AND FLANGE BOLT PATTERN MATCHES.
9. COALESCING PLATE SHALL BE MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL OR POLYPROPYLENE AND SHALL BE SECURELY BUNDLED IN PACKS SO THAT THEY CAN BE
REMOVED AS UNITS. PLATES WITHIN EACH PACK SHALL BE INCLINED AT 45° TO 60' FROM THE HORIZONTAL, HAVE A MINIMUM SPACING OF 1/2-INCH
AND HAVE CORRUGATIONS. THE PLATE PACK SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 6-INCHES OF SEPARATION FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE VAULT AND 1-FOOT
OF CLEARANCE FROM THE TOP OF THE PLATE PACK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE VAULT LID.
10. THE ENTIRE SPACE BETWEEN THE SIDES OF THE PLATE PACK(S) AND THE INTERIOR VAULT WALL SHALL BE FILLED WITH A SINGLE PIECE OF
REMOVABLE POLYETHYLENE FOAM TO PREVENT SHORT-CIRCUITING OF THE PLATE PACK(S).
11. MANUFACTURER SHALL PROVIDE CALCULATIONS CONFIRMING THE PLATE PACK MEET THE DESIGN REQUIREMENTS OF THE 2017 CITY OF RENTON
STORMWATER DESIGN MANUAL BASED ON THE FOLLOWING INFLUENT AND EFFLUENT CRITERIA:

12. ALL INTERIOR VAULT BAFFLES AND WEIRS SHALL BE CONCRETE OR STAINLESS STEEL AND SHALL BE SECURELY FASTENED TO THE VAULT. PAINTING OR
OTHER COATING OF METAL PARTS FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE IS NOT ALLOWED.
13. LIDS SHALL MEET LOADING AND LIFT REQUIREMENTS SHOWN ON SHEET G2.
14. LINK -SEAL MODULAR SEALS SHALL BE PROVIDED AT EXTERIOR WALL PENETRATIONS AND INSTALLED PER MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS. SEE
STRUCTURAL PLANS FOR ADDITIONAL WALL PENETRATION DETAILS.
15. PERMANENT WATER QUALITY TREATMENT FACILITIES SHALL NOT BE USED TO CONVEY OR CONTAIN CONSTRUCTION STORM WATER. NEW FACILITIES
SHALL BE KEPT OFFLINE UNTIL PROJECT IS COMPLETE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN AND FLUSH ALL PARTS OF THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO
INSPECTION. SEE GENERAL NOTES ON SHEET G2.
