TAKE
1. FASCINES SHALL CONSIST OF LIVE CUTTINGS THAT ARE DORMANT BRANCHES BOUND TOGETHER TO CREATE A LOG -LIKE STRUCTURE.
THEY SHALL BE INSTALLED ADJACENT TO THE OHWL.
2. CUTTINGS FOR FASCINES SHALL BE COLLECTED WHEN PLANTS ARE DORMANT. PRIOR TO PLANTING FASCINES SHALL BE STORED SO THEY
ARE KEPT WET PRIOR TO PLANTING. FASCINES SHALL BE INSTALLED IMMEDIATELY UPON DELIVERY TO SITE.
3. PLACE AND SECURE FASCINES FOR ALL LOCATIONS IDENTIFIED ON PLANS.
4. FASCINES SHALL BE PLACED IN A TRENCH THAT FOLLOWS THE CONTOURS. FIRMLY SECURE FASCINES INTO TRENCH WITH WOOD STAKES
AT A MINIMUM OF 3 POINTS AS INDICATED IN THE DETAIL.
5. WOOD STAKES SHALL BE USED TO SECURE THE FASCINES. STAKES SHALL BE 2"X2"X24" LENGTH. STAKES SHALL BE DRIVEN INTO EXISTING
GRADE A MINIMUM OF 12" AND AT VARYING ANGLES.
6. BURY APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF THE DEPTH OF THE FASCINE BUNDLE DIAMETER WITH SOIL, WATER, AND TAMP IN PLACE TO REMOVE AIR
POCKETS.
FASCINE (TYPICAL) A
N.T.S. L06
1. COLLECT AND PLANT WHEN DORMANT OCTOBER - APRIL
2. PLANT A T LONG LIVE STAKE 2 FEET INTO THE GROUND PLANTED. VIABLE STAKES SHALL HAVE SEVERAL BUDS AND
NODES INTACT TO FORM ROOTS AND BRANCHES.
3. KEEP LIVE STAKES MOIST AND COOL WHILE STORING THEM. PLANT IMMEDIATELY UPON DELIVERY TO SITE.
4. CUT ONE END OF THE LIVE STAKE SHARP TO HELP DRIVE INTO THE SOIL.
5. IF REQUIRED USE TOOLS TO PRE -DRILL PLANTING HOLE. PRE -DRILLED HOLES SHALL BE SAME DIAMETER OR SMALLER
THAN LIVE STAKES BEING PLANTED.
6. STAKES SHALL BE 3' TO 4' IN LENGTH.

NOTES:
1. REMOVAL OF INVASIVE VEGETATION AND REPLANTING AMONGST EXISTING RIPRAP AND ROCKERY
ARMORING: PRIOR TO PLANTING, THESE AREAS MAY REQUIRE SUPPLEMENTAL SOIL TO INFILL EXISTING
VOIDS. A NON-STRUCTURAL PLANTING MEDIUM SHALL BE USED WHERE REQUIRED TO CREATE SUITABLE
PLANTING CONDITIONS AS DETERMINED BY PROJECT ENGINEER..
2. UPON COMPLETION OF PLANTING ALL PLANTING BEDS SHALL BE TOPDRESSED WITH MULCH. PRIOR TO
PLACEMENT OF WOOD MULCH, AREAS IDENTIFIED SHALL BE SEEDED. SEE PLANT LIST.
3. PRIOR TO PLANTING THE SHORELINE PLANTING AREAS, CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL TEMPORARY
HERBIVORE EXCLOSURE.
4. FURTHER ASSESSMENT OF THE SITE CONDITIONS IS NEEDED TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF
INSTALLING A FENCE OR INDIVIDUAL PLANT CAGES AT LOCATIONS WHERE INVASIVE VEGETATION WILL BE
REMOVED AND REPLANTED WITH NATIVE VEGETATION UPON REMOVAL OF VEGETATION REVIEW WITH
PROJECT ENGINEER.
5. AREAS OF ASPHALT REMOVAL IDENTIFIED ON THESE PLANS. ENSURE ALL ASPHALT AND SUBGRADE
MATERIALS INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CRUSHED ROCK ARE REMOVED PRIOR TO INSTALLING
TOPSOIL AND PLANTS IN THESE AREAS. THE PROJECT ENGINEER SHALL REVIEW AND APPROVE THESE
AREAS PRIOR TO ANY PLACEMENT OF TOPSOIL OR PLANTING.
HAND SEED OPEN AREAS BETWEEN
PLANTS WITH COMMON RUSH AND
TUFTED HAIRGRASS. COVER WITH
WOOD MULCH AFTER SEEDING.
WHERE PLANTING DENSITIES ARE
HIGHER IN PLANTING AREA "D", ONLY
PLACE WOOD MULCH AFTER PLANTING
AND NO SEED MIX.
WOOD MULCH LAYER PER SPECS, FEATHER TO BASE.
MULCH MUST NOT TOUCH STEMS OR TRUNKS.

ROOTBALL
1. PLANTING PIT SIZES WILL BE A MINIMUM OF TWICE THE ROOT BALL WIDTH AND HAVE THEIR TOP TRUE ROOT NO MORE
THAN 1 INCH ABOVE THE SOIL SURFACE.
2. PRIOR TO PLANTING, CONTAINERS SHALL BE COMPLETELY REMOVED AND THE ROOTS LOOSENED BY APPROPRIATE
PRUNING.
3. PLANTING PITS WILL BE BACKFILLED WITH TOPSOIL THAT IS FREE OF ROCKS OVER 1 INCH, LUMPS, AND OTHER
FOREIGN MATERIALS. BACKFILLING AROUND TRUNKS OR STEMS IS NOT PERMITTED.
4. THE BACKFILL MATERIAL AND ROOTBALL SHALL BE THOROUGHLY WATERED ON THE SAME DAY THAT PLANTING
