Upon arrival AESI met with Derrick, the foreman from Team Nelson. 161ST Ave Water Main Installation: Team Nelson continued placing water main heading south along 161St Ave toward Road B (Figure 1). An existing gas main and an existing water main were in conflict with the planned placement of water main along 161St. Team Nelson called the civil engineer and the 22.5° bend was placed further north than planned to avoid existing utilities. This change resulted in water main placed 5-10' west of the planned location. The 8" DI pipe was placed approximately 4' deep and was bedded and covered with 5/8" minus crushed rock. Backfill consisted of approximately 3' of native soil compacted by a ho -pack, followed by approximately 4" of 1 %" minus crushed rock compacted by a ho -pack, 2" of 5/8" minus crushed rock compacted by a vibratory roller, and 2" of hot asphalt compacted by a vibratory roller. Derrick said that 161" will be resurfaced at a future date. Density testing was conducted on the native soil backfill before crushed rock was placed (Table 1). All backfill was compacted to firm and unyielding conditions before more backfill was placed. Lot Fills: When observed today, the material placed in Lots 22, 23, and 24 was still very wet and yielded under foot. AESI left the site at 1:30 PM and will return tomorrow to observe water main installation. The 5 PVC conduits placed approximately 3' deep and were bedded in sand. Backfill consisted of 1' lifts of native soil compacted by a ho -pack. Density testing was conducted at the surface in both lanes of the road (Table 2). All backfill was compacted to firm and unyielding conditions before more backfill was placed. AESI left the site at 2:30 PM and will return tomorrow to observe water connections and utility trench backfill.
