The regular meeting of the Firemen's Pension Board was called to order by Acting
Chairman Don Persson at 1:30 p.m. in the Mayor's conference room, 7th floor of Renton
City Hall. In attendance were Board members Don Persson, Bruce Phillips, Ray Barilleaux
and Bonnie Walton. Jill Masunaga, Finance Department representative, and Michael
Bailey, Finance and Information Services Administrator, were also in attendance.
MINUTES APPROVAL
MOVED BY BARILLEAUX, SECONDED BY PHILLIPS, THE PENSION BOARD
APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE APRIL 19, 2007, MEETING. CARRIED.
MONTHLY STATEMENT
The financial report as of April 30, 2007, was reviewed. Total cash/investment balance
was $4,518,567.47.
MONTHLY BILLS AND PENSION PAYMENTS
MOVED BY PHILLIPS, SECONDED BY BARILLEAUX, THE BOARD APPROVE
THE PENSION/MEDICAL PAYMENTS FOR MAY 2007, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT
OF $34,999.83 TO BE PAID FROM THE FIREMEN'S PENSION FUND. CARRIED.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Michael Bailey, Finance and Information Services Administrator, presented the Actuarial
Valuation of Firefighters' Pension Fund dated January 1, 2007, as prepared by Milliman
Consultants and Actuaries. The Valuation report indicated that on the basis of the actuarial
assumptions used, it is estimated that the current assets of the Fund, along with future
revenues from state fire insurance taxes (assumed to be paid for 10 years from the
valuation date) and investment earnings, will be sufficient to pay all future pension
benefits. Mr. Bailey also handed out and reviewed page numbers 4-44 and 4-45 of the
2006 Comprehensive Annual Financial report, regarding the city's funding policy.
NEW BUSINESS
Board members Barilleaux and Phillips presented a letter notifying the Board that Chuck
Christenson has been appointed as the Fire Department Alternate member on the Board,
replacing William Larson.
