Water Line Backfill While onsite, rep observed contractor use a large excavator to excavate a water line (W5'xD6'). Rep observed contractor place 8" ductile iron pipe at the toe of the excavation in a 6" lift of pea gravel. Rep will return tomorrow, October 29, 2019, to observe and test the backfill of the water line. Storm Water Discharge Rep used IMHOFF cone to test baker tank sewer water discharge. Rep used IMHOFF cone and found sediment (<3 ml) after testing water for one hour. Rep took PH test and found water suitable for discharge at a PH level of 6.5. Vault Excavation Rep observed contractor grading the vault excavation to design elevation with a large excavator. Rep observed the south slope to be near vertical, the east and north slope to be 1:1 (H:V) to a near 7' vertical toe, and the west slope to be (H:V) to a near 3' vertical toe. Although over -steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state and federal regulation. ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client.
