Grady Way Renton, WA 98067 RE: Notice of Intent to Lien, City Ref# 680306 Dear Renton City Utilities Administrator: I am responding to your Notice of Intent to Lien, dated December 22, 2017 and which I received on January 5, 2018. For the previous three years, while the City was managing the billing there were few errors and any resolution was relatively quick and prompt; the same cannot be said for Republic Services. A quick review of my account will show timely payments for the entire history of the account. Yet now, the City is exercising their lien authority on behalf of a private business, a business with no incentive to resolve any disputes. I dispute that my account with Republic Services is delinquent due to all of their errors in accounting, their inability to provide an auditable account history to determine what, if anything, is owed, and their non-responsiveness to all of my attempts to seek resolution. The transition from City of Renton billing to Republic Services was poorly communicated, if at all, - I received N� communications or announcements of"coming" changes, or even a notice in the first bill explaining the reasons I was suddenly receiving a bill from an entity I had never dealt with. Given the significant due process issues involved with liening an individual's property, I am surprised that the City would initiate this action on the word of a private entity. I have received no responses to any of my communications. I have been away from my home a good part of the year- My mother recently passed away in 2017 and I was away at her home, cleaning out —so there was no need for garbage service, as no one was residing at my home. However, had they continued billing and not terminated service, I likely would have continued paying even though I was not at home; but in fact, they did terminate service and did not send any more bills. Based on the inaction and non-responsiveness of Republic Services to any of my requests, and based on Republic's termination of my service, I would welcome assistance from the City of Renton in resolving the mess Republic has created with my account so that I can resume service.
