I apologize for the delay in getting you a response. I’ve been super swamped. I approve of the use of the ethafoam pad between the storm and water lines.
Please have the contractor call in the inspection before this work occurs so that our inspector, Joel Mccann, can be present to witness the installation.
Best Regards,
Jonathan Chavez, P.E.

Good afternoon Jonathan,
I hope you and your family are well and keeping safe and healthy during these strange times...
I am following up with you regarding the Avon Project to seek your final confirmation that using foam in between water and new storm\line would be acceptable; the minimum gap will be
about 6 inches and and it occurs only on the 14th street crossing. Many Cities in our areas (Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland) use Dow Plastics Ethafoam 220 Pad between lines as it is an
acceptable procedures.
I appreciate your follow up on this matter and looking forward to speaking with you soon.
Please take care and stay healthy........
Again thank you.
Kind Regards,

Hello Jonathan,
Per our discussion earlier last week, the contractor has potholed the waterline and determined if we reduce the separation between stormwater pipe and water pipe by placing a foam between
the lines, they would be able to achieve the stormwater pipe installation as planned. Would you please review if the use of Dow Plastics Ethafoam 220 pad between the waterline and stormline
is acceptable.
Thanking you in advance.
Kind regards,

Good morning Hamid,
Per our phone conversation this morning, below is a link to the only record drawings we have of the existing water line. As you will note, they don’t include vertical profiles. The contractor
will need to pothole the waterline at the crossings to verify the vertical elevations.
