Enclosed is a petition signed by the majority of property owners in and around the
commonly referred to "hook" area of Renton. As you will recall, this small finger of land
within Renton city limits is surrounded by the city of Newcastle.
The petition requests that the City of Renton review the zoning of this area and that the
zoning be adjusted from R8 to R4. As you'll note in reviewing zoning maps of the city
of Newcastle, R4 is the prevailing level of zoning surrounding this "hook" area of
Renton. Further, you'll note that the highest level of zoning adjacent to the R4 areas is
R6. Clearly, R8 is lust not appropriate for this "hook" area.
We request that this issue be addressed as soon as possible In order to eliminate the
possibility of the approval of development that does not comply with the R4 zoning. At
the present time, iNe know of no lot which is currently built out, subdivided or short
platted at the R8 zoning level within the Renton "hook" or surrounding Newcastie
areas.

We. the undersigned. request that the City of Renton and other governmental agencies
review the zoning of the area outlined in Exhibit A and consider action to align the
zoning with that of neighboring properties. Additionally. we request that the area be
rezoned to R4. which is the zoning of the surrounding properties.
