Currently, due to the spread of COVID-19, all regularly-scheduled council and committee meetings will be held as
necessary via videoconference. City hall is closed to the public and therefore no in-person comments will be
accepted. Residents are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways. 1) Residents may submit comments in
advance to cityclerk@rentonwa.gov. 2) Residents may listen to the proceedings by calling 425.430.7171 and entering
code 0033665#. 3) Residents may view the meeting live on Renton Channel 21. 4) Residents may view the
proceedings streaming live at http://rentonwa.gov/streaming. If you would like to attend this week's meeting

Why is this project needed?
•The King County Executive and the County Council have directed the division to maximize the capacity of the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill.
•The project was approved in the 2019 Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan
•The landfill is expected to reach capacity in 2028 (Area 8 in 2026).
•The Solid Waste Division is planning a project to move support facilities on the site in order to develop more capacity.
•One of the options under review is to relocate support facilities to County -owned property in Renton.AGENDA ITEM #1. b)

Where Are We On The Project?
•Developing Draft Environmental Impact Statement –Evaluates three “Action Alternatives” and a “No Action” alternative for site development.
•Relocating support facilities -Action Alternatives require this
•3 Relocation options: Landfill North, Landfill South, next to Renton Transfer Station
•Facilities to be relocated:vehicle maintenance shop, employee office space, lab space, tractor, trailer, and employee parking
•Facilities to remain at landfill: scale house, truck wash, some office/break buildings, CAT Shack and related maintenance AGENDA ITEM #1. b)
