Footing Excavation ESNW Rep observed contractor excavating trenches for cast in place walls footings. Rep observed contractor backfill with native brown silty sand with gravel material. While onsite, rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the footing subgrade to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the proposed footing. Rep observed 1’ lifts of native material compacted with a hoe pack and jumping jack to grade. Cut Slopes While onsite, rep observed slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical. Rep observed that the north slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state and federal regulation ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client Fig 1.
