Thank you for sending the updated tree removal plan. The updates are acceptable to DNR with the following requests: 1. Please notify DNR in advance what day/s the trees will be removed. We will send out 2 week notice to you before starting , and I also will make a personal call to you to follow up. 2. Please coordinate with DNR on the planting of the new trees. A DNR employee would like to be on site with the contractor when the locations are chosen to help ensure survival. We will give you 3 week notice before starting, and we also will make a personal call to you as well to set up on site mtg. 3. Please consider placing fence protection around the new trees to prevent beaver from damaging them. We have experienced a lot of beaver damage on new trees at a nearby site when they are not protected. Please see attached Apron R L05 pdf . Temporary Herbivory Enclosure detail L05. ( Beaver protection fencing) 4. Consider updating the image to show the 3 point locations of tree #1, 2, and 3 in 2020 plan. The circle doesn’t include the location point for one of the trees. Please see attached Boeing Renton-Apron R-Tree- removal revised 2020 REV opt pdf, to included tree marking within circles. 5. Provide DNR a copy of the revised City of Renton Shoreline Substantial Permit approval. We expect approval in October and I will provide a copy. Please note WSDOT will be out for their fall maintenance of the property on September 17th and November 19th. These dates has been added to the contractor schedule for safety and general awareness. It was discovered at the meeting, that an existing 40 ft. high Black cottonwood tree roots would be affected when we remove the Boeing utilities off the DNR property. The Cottonwood tree is adjacent to the property and could fall on the Apron itself, it would become a dangerous tree and should be removed. To compensate for the tree removal and to give the grove of trees more diversity, we would like to add three more conifer trees to your DNR property. We also found an existing maple that was to be originally removed on the extreme west of the DNR property in a state of decline and would eventually fall on its own near the shoreline, this would improve the habitat naturally after the normal tree and limbs fall, so we would not want cut it and remove it as part of our project. In summary the new revisions to the existing plans are this: A) Tree #1 (Maple Vine 6ft height has been deleted from the tree removal plan. See BoeingRenton-ApronR-Tree- removal 2019 pdf marked number # 1 B) Tree # 5 ( Black Cottonwood 40ft height will be removed. See BoeingRenton-ApronR-Tree- removal 2020 pdf marked number # 5 C) Three new Sitka spruce will be added to the planting plan. See BoeingRenton-ApronR-Tree- removal 2020 pdf marked number # P1 Please reply if these revisions would be acceptable by your department. PS I will be submitting a revised Substantial Shoreline Development Permit with the City of Renton for the tree revisions . It will take about 4 weeks or less and I will send to you the approve city revision by e-mail.
