At the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe water main backfill and to observe the over steepened
excavation. While onsite, ESNW rep observed the following:
Water main Backfill
Rep observed that the contractor was installing water main on the north east corner of the site. ESNW rep observed
that the contractor had backfilled the shallow water main and compacted the backfill to a dense and solid state
using a medium track hoe pack. ESNW rep will return on Monday to take surface tests on the water main backfill.
Excavation Observations
While on -site, ESNW rep. observed the grading contractor continuing to work next to the over steepened
temporary excavation cuts. At the time of visit, ESNW rep. observed the temporary excavation to be stable in its
current condition and configuration, suitable for work to be conducted within the excavation. It is the responsibility
of the contractor to perform and implement all necessary safety measures in accordance with state and federal
regulations. ESNW rep recommends that the contractor cover the exposed soil slopes of the excavation with
plastic anchored using stakes and sandbags.
ESNW rep will return when requested.

Supplementary Report:
At the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe or test pH of stormwater, cut slopes and earthwork
activities.
Test pH of Stormwater
While onsite, rep took pH tests to determine the acidity of stormwater. Rep took pH tests at the east end of the
quarry spall entrance and observed a pH level of 7 pH. At the west of the quarry spall entrance stormwater
(temporary) collection pit and observed a pH level of 9 pH. On the street, north and south of the west entrance,
rep took a pH tests and observed stormwater to be a 6.5/7 pH. In tested baker tank, rep observed a pH level of
8.5 pH. Rep observed that pH level was contained onsite and not leaving the site. The stormwater pH level in
street was in compliance of required pH level at 6.5/7 pH
Cut Slopes
Rep observed south slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical and covered in plastic sheeting. Rep observed
that the east slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over -steepened, slopes are stable
in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures
in accordance with state and federal regulation. Rep observed that contractor had sloped the southeast corner of
the footing excavation to a 1:1 (H:V)
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client

At the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe or test water line backfill, pH of stormwater, cut slopes
and earthwork activities.
Water Line Backfill
While onsite, rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to excavate and install the water line. Rep
observed contractor install a 10" ductile iron pipe at the toe of the excavation (W4'xD4') embedded in a 12" lift pea
gravel. Rep observed contractor place brown silty sand with gravel material in loose 12"-18" lifts and compacting
with a hoe pack. Rep took compaction tests on backfill and observed material to be adequate of at least 95% of
its maximum dry density (130.7 lbs./cu. ft.).
Test pH of Stormwater
Rep took pH tests to determine the acidity of stormwater. Rep took pH tests at the east end of the quarry spall
entrance and observed a pH level of 8 pH. At the west of the quarry spall entrance stormwater (temporary)
collection pit and observed a pH level of 6.5/7 pH. On the street, north and south of the west entrance, rep took a
