the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe or test cut slopes, test pH of stormwater, water line backfill
and earthwork activities.
Cut Slopes
While onsite, rep observed south slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical and covered in plastic sheeting. Rep
observed that the east slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes
are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety
measures in accordance with state and federal regulation. Rep observed that contractor had sloped the southeast
corner of the footing excavation to a 1: 1 (H:V).
Test pH of Stormwater
Rep took pH tests to determine the pH of stormwater. In the filled baker tanks rep observed 10.2 NTU in a baker
tank. Rep observed that contractor added dry ice to lower the pH level. Rep observed that pH level was contained
onsite at 6.5 pH.
Water Line Backfill
Rep observed the prior to arrival that contractor had used a medium sized excavator to excavate a water line
trench (W8'xD12'). Contractor expressed plans to continue working on water line backfill Tuesday, March 10,
2020. Rep will return to observe or test backfill as needed.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client f-

Rep observed the prior to arrival that contractor had used a medium sized excavator to excavate a water line

silty sand with gravel material. Rep observed contractor treat native material with a 3% cement mix. Rep observed
contractor place 12"-18" lifts and compaction with a hoe pack. Rep took compaction tests on backfill and observed
material to be adequate of at least 95% of its maximum dry density that was adjusted based on calculations with
the cement treatment (130.7 lbs./cu. ft.).
Footing Backfill
Rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to mix and cement treat native brown silty sand with gravel
material. Rep observed contractor treat native material with a 3% cement mix. Rep observed contractor place 8"-

adequate of at least 95% of its maximum dry density that was adjusted based on calculations with the cement
