Supplementary Report:
At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe cut slopes, test pH of stormwater and test footing backfill.
Cut Slopes
While onsite, rep observed south slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical and covered in plastic sheeting. Rep
observed that the north slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes
are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety
measures in accordance with state and federal regulation
Material Export
While onsite rep observed material being exported offsite.
Test pH of Stormwater
Rep took pH tests to determine the pH of stormwater. In the filled baker tank rep observed <25NTU. Rep observed
that contractor added dry ice to lower the pH level to 6.5, suitable for sewer discharge. Rep observed that pH
level was contained onsite.
Footing Backfill
ESNW rep observed footing excavation. Rep. used a ½” steel T-probe to probe locations along the footing
subgrade. ESNW rep. observed footing subgrade to be dense and composed of suitable material for footing
construction.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client

At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe rockery construction and earthwork activities. The focus of
the work is related to completing the rockeries along the south side of the project.
Rockeries
The temporary slope (covered area in photo below) has been covered and otherwise protected from weather related
instability and has remained stable during the temporary period, as observed by ESNW representative. While onsite,
rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the keyway for the lower tier rockery located at the southeast quadrant of
the site. Rep observed the keyway to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the proposed rockery.
Rep observed contractor place courses of rocks. Rep observed contractor place a 4” perforated drain pipe behind the
first course of the rockery, embed the pipe in an 18” lift of 1”-2” wash rock, geotextile, then backfill over the geotextile
with 2”-4” quarry spalls. (See Image)
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client.
