located at the southeast corner of the site. Rep observed the vac truck excavating material located south of th e
top tier of rockery. Contractor was observed excavating -16.5’ approximately. Contractor expressed plans to
continue excavation of the pipe backfill to -18’. Rep will return tomorrow, to observe or test the backfill of the water
line bypass as needed.

Water Line Bypass Excavation and Backfill
While onsite, rep observed contractor that contractor had reinstalled the water line bypass located at the southeast
corner of the site. Rep observed contractor using boards and shoring pumps to install temporary shoring. Rep
observed contractor remove temporary shoring, place a 3’ fill of pea gravel at -10’ due to the space constraints of
the area. Rep observed that area around the excavation was at the third tier of the rockery wall.
Rep observed contractor then place 12”-18” lifts of uncompacted native material and compact with a hoe pack.
Rep took compaction tests and observed material to be adequate of at least 95% of its maximum dry density
(130.7 lbs./cu. ft.).
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client
