Footing Excavation ESNW Rep observed contractor placing form boards for cast in place walls footings. While onsite, rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the footing subgrade to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the proposed wall. Cut Slopes While onsite, rep observed slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical. Rep observed that the north slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. While onsite, rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the subgrade to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the proposed water main connection. Rep observed 1’ lifts of native material compacted with a jumping jack to grade. ESNW rep observed that the contractor had achieved minimum compaction standards of 95% or greater in areas tested. Cut Slopes While onsite, rep observed slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical. Rep observed that the north slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Water Line Backfill Rep observed the prior to arrival that contractor had used a medium sized excavator to excavate a water line trench (W8’xL8’xD5’) at the southwest corner of the site. Rep observed that excavation was intended for the water line tie in. Contractor expressed plans to continue water line backfill tomorrow.
