Supplementary Report:
At the client’s request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe water main backfill and cut slopes.
Water Main Backfill
ESNW Rep observed contractor working on water main connection to the site in Talbot road. Contractor relayed
that after pressure testing is completed the trench will be backfilled with 1 ¼’’ minus recycled crushed concrete
material. Rep used a ½” steel t-probe and observed the subgrade to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable
for support of the proposed water main connection. Rep observed contractor placing a fire hydrant at the NE corner
and NW corner of the site with 3’ deep trenches partially backfilled with 18’’ of pea gravel. Contractor relayed that
fire hydrant water connection trenches will be backfilled with native material to grade.
Cut Slopes
While onsite, rep observed slopes of the cut slopes to be near vertical. Rep observed that the north slopes of the
excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over-steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration
and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state
and federal regulation
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client
