At the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe and test storm line backfill, storm water discharge, vault
excavation and earthwork activities.
Storm Line Backfill
While onsite, rep observed contractor use a large excavator to excavate a storm line (W3'xD5'). Rep observed
contractor place a 12" corrugated pipe at the toe of the trench. Rep observed contractor bedding the pipe in a 12" lift
of pea gravel. Rep observed contractor place brown silty sand with gravel material in loose 12"-18" lifts and compacting
with a hoe pack. Rep took compaction tests on backfill and observed material to be adequate of at least 95% of its
maximum dry density (130.7 Ibs./cu. ft.).
Vault Excavation
Rep observed contractor grading the vault excavation to design elevation with a large excavator. Rep observed the
south slope to be near vertical, the east and north slope to be 1:1 (H:V) to a near 7' vertical toe, and the west slope to
be (H:V) to a near 3' vertical toe. Although over -steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration and stable to
work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state and federal
regulation.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities

Storm Line Backfill
While onsite, rep observed contractor use a large excavator to excavate a storm line (W3'xD5'). Rep observed
contractor place a 12" corrugated pipe at the toe of the trench. Rep observed contractor bedding the pipe in a 12" lift
of pea gravel. Rep will return tomorrow, Wednesday, October 9, 2019, to observe and test storm line backfill as
needed.
Storm Water Discharge
Rep used IMHOFF cone to test baker tank sewer water discharge. Rep used IMHOFF cone and found sediment (<3
ml) after testing water for one hour. Rep took PH test and found water suitable for discharge at a PH level of 6.5.
Contractor expressed plans to build pump and meter before pumping water out of baker tanks.
Rockeries
Rep observed rockery contractor excavating and cutting the keyway for the first -tier rockery located in the southeast
corner of the site. Rep observed contractor use a large excavator for the excavation.

Sewer Line Backfill
While onsite, rep observed contractor use a large excavator to excavate a sewer line. Contractor expressed plans to
continue working on sewer line excavation and backfill tomorrow, Thursday, October 10, 2019. Rep will return to
observe and test the backfill as needed.
Rockeries
Rep observed rockery contractor excavating and cutting the keyway for the first -tier
rockery located in the southeast corner of the site. Rep observed contractor use a
large excavator for the excavation. Rep used a '/2" steel t-probe and observed the
keyway for the rockery located at the southeast quadrant of the site. Rep observed
the keyway to be very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the
proposed rockery. Rep observed contractor place a few courses of rocks. Rep
observed contractor place a 4" perforated drain pipe behind the first course of the
rockery, embed the pipe in an 18" lift of 1%2" wash rock, geotextile, then backfill over
the geotextile with 2%4" quarry spalls.
