Supplementary Report:
At the client's request, ESNW rep was onsite to observe and test lock and load wall backfill and footing
excavations.
Lock and Load Wall Backfill
While onsite, rep observed wall contractor install the third tier of the lock and load wall. Rep observed contractor
grade and place import gray 1/2" minus crushed recycled concrete in loose—6"--12" lifts. Rep observed contractor
place geo-grid as per plan (8XT). Once lifts were placed, rep observed contractor use a medium sized double
drum roller for compaction. Rep took compaction tests on fill and observed material to be adequate of at least
95% of its maximum dry density (118.4.0 lbs./cu. ft.). Rep observed contractor using a cad truck to belt and place
material on the top tier of the lock and load wall.
Rep observed the south slopes of the lock and load wall to be near vertical. Although over -steepened, slopes are
stable in current configuration and stable to work within.
Footing Excavations
Rep observed contractor using two medium sized excavators to excavate the west footings of the building. Rep
observed that contractor was over -excavating at a 1" continuous slope. Rep used a'/" steel t-probe and observed
that the footing subgrade was very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the proposed building
footings. Contractor expressed plans to continue excavating the footings next week.
Rep observed south slopes of the excavation to be near vertical. Rep observed that the east slopes of the
excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope. Although over -steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration
and stable to work within. The contractor is responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state
and federal regulation. Rep recommended that contractor slope the south end of the excavation to a 1:2 (H:V)
slope due to the saturated material observed in the slope bank.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client.

probe and observed that the footing subgrade was very dense, firm, unyielding, and suitable for support of the
proposed building footings. Rep observed that contractor had placed

Rep met with ESNW manager, Scott, to discuss and review the earthwork activities. While onsite, ESNW
recommended that contractor cover exposed slopes of the footing excavations and the south end slope with plastic
sheeting to minimize change from stormwater. Due to the nature of the southeast corner of the building footing
excavation location between the rockery and lock and load wall, ESNW recommended that contractor install a
temporary drain pipe from the rockery to by pass the material near the walls.
Earthwork Activities
Rep observed contractor use two large excavators and several haul trucks to export material offsite.
ESNW rep will return to observe earthwork activities when requested by client.

Water Line Backfill & Vault Backfill
Rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to excavate the water line that has been redesigned to
be placed adjacent from the south perimeter of the stormwater vault. Rep observed contractor use a pump to
pump stormwater from the excavation while working into the baker -tank. Contractor expressed plans to continue
working on installing the water line and the drain pipe for the stormwater vault footing tomorrow, December 13,
2019. Rep will return to observe or test the backfill as needed.

Footing Excavations
While onsite, rep observed contractor forming boards for the footings. Rep observed south slopes of the
excavation to be near vertical. Rep observed that the east slopes of the excavation were near a 0.75:1 (H:V) slope.
Although over -steepened, slopes are stable in current configuration and stable to work within. The contractor is
responsible for providing all safety measures in accordance with state and federal regulation. Rep observed that
contractor had sloped the southeast corner of the footing excavation to a 1:1 (H:V).
Rep observed that contractor had placed plastic sheeting over the exposed slopes for the footing excavation, the
exposed slopes between the lock and load wall and the rockery as recommended.
Water Line Backfill & Vault Backfill
Rep observed contractor use a medium sized excavator to excavate the water line that has been redesigned to
be placed adjacent from the south perimeter of the stormwater vault. Rep observed contractor use a pump to
pump stormwater from the excavation while working into the baker -tank.
Rep observed contractor install a 6" perforated drain pipe at the toe of the footings embedded in a 12" lift of 1 %2"
wash rock. Outside of the wash rock, rep observed that contractor had placed a woven geotextile. Contractor
expressed plans to continue working on installing the drain pipe for the stormwater vault footing Monday,
December 16, 2019. Rep will return to observe or test the backfill as needed.
Test pH of Stormwater
While onsite, rep observed that work was stopped. Rep took pH tests to determine the acidity of stormwater. Rep
took pH tests at the east end of the quarry spall entrance and observed a pH level of 6.5/7 pH. At the west of the
quarry spall entrance stormwater (temporary) collection pit and observed a pH level of 9 pH. On the street, rep
took a pH test and observed stormwater to be a 6.5/7 pH. Rep observed that pH level was contained onsite and
that stormwater pH level in street was in compliance of required pH level at 6.5/7 pH.
Earthwork Activities
Rep observed contractor use a large excavator and several haul trucks to export material offsite.
