Hello Renton city officials,
My name is ky magdalene; I am a community member and someone who works in the behavioral health field. I am writing to demand that you drop the ordinance
discussed at tonight's meeting, the interim zoning controls for homeless shelters.
What you're proposing is evil. It is evil to evict homeless folks from safe shelter and it is profoundly more evil to attempt to do so during a global pandemic. I
cannot find language heavy enough to properly convey to you how deeply disturbing and awful what you're attempting to do is. That you would even think to do
this is an incredible shame that I hope you all feel. This ordinance will harm our fellow community members -- every person in the shelters that this would affect is
a community member and deserves so much better from all of you, as do we all. Drop this ordinance.
